Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

An initial session with Jennifer a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) typically lasts 50–60 minutes and focuses on connection, background information, and goal-setting. Because LMFTs specialize in relational and systemic therapy, expect the conversation to explore how your family background, environment, and relationships impact your current concerns. A first therapy appointment is generally structured as an intake interview and will normally cover the following phases: 1. Housekeeping and Paperwork, 2. Presenting Concerns and Goal Setting. 3. Background and Family History.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a trauma-informed LMFT with a background in Child Welfare Services uniquely bridges macro-level child welfare systems with micro-level family systems and neurobiology. This intersection equips me with a profound, systemic understanding of how trauma propagates through generations and impacts development.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My dream clients are between 6 to 65 years of age and have a vigor for learning. I enjoy clients who come to therapy open minded and ready to heal. I am open to working with all clients who need my services. I love seeing patients heal from trauma, anxiety and depression or find new ways to cope with life's inconsistencies. .

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. By focusing on current life challenges, I will teach practical, goal-oriented coping strategies so individuals can ultimately become their own therapists and manage their well-being effectively.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is typically short-term and focuses on practical, goal-oriented solutions rather than digging deeply into past history. During sessions, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) I will facilitate a productive dialogue to: Teach members how to express emotions constructively without assigning blame. Help identify negative interaction patterns and cycles. Adjust family dynamics by establishing clear boundaries and healthy power structures (hierarchies).

Couples Counseling

As a Couples therapist I act as a neutral third party to help partners navigate relationship dynamics. I will identify destructive behavioral patterns, foster effective communication, and teach practical conflict resolution skills to improve intimacy, trust, and mutual understanding.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a culturally responsive therapist I intentionally integrate your unique cultural background, beliefs, and systemic experiences into your mental health treatment. I will not treat you in a cultural vacuum; instead,I will ensure my therapy methods are sensitive and tailored to your specific intersectional identity.

Trauma Informed Care

As a trauma-informed therapist I shift the focus of therapy from "What is wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?". I create a safe, collaborative environment and use specialized evidence based techniques to help you process past experiences at your own pace while avoiding re-traumatization
