I work with women who feel stuck in overthinking, self-doubt, and trying to get everything “right” – especially during times of transition like relationships, career changes, motherhood, or midlife. From the outside, things may look fine – but internally it feels harder than it should. You might find yourself second-guessing your decisions, feeling overwhelmed, or unsure what you actually want. This isn’t just about coping – it’s about understanding what’s actually driving these patterns, so you’re not stuck trying to figure yourself out all the time. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 15 years in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Alongside that, I trained as a Reiki Master, Polarity Practitioner, and massage therapist. I bring both of these perspectives into this work – a science-informed understanding of the nervous system with a focus on how experiences are held in the body.
The first session is a chance to talk about what brought you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you want to feel different. We’ll also go over logistics – policies, informed consent, and how therapy works – so you know what to expect. Most first sessions feel more like a conversation than anything formal, so you don’t need to plan anything out ahead of time.
I tend to look at what’s going on from a few different angles – how your body is responding, how your experiences have shaped the way you think and react, and what starts to shift when we slow things down. We’re not just looking at symptoms – we’re getting curious about what’s underneath them. Thoughts, emotions, and reactions are signals, not problems to fix. When we start to notice them more clearly, things begin to make more sense. Sessions may include journaling, guided reflection, body-based practices, or symbolic tools like tarot or oracle cards if they feel helpful (it's always up to you). These aren’t about prediction—they’re just another way of looking at things and noticing what stands out.
This approach tends to be a good fit for women who think deeply and reflect on their experiences, and want to understand themselves more fully rather than just manage symptoms. I commonly work with anxiety, trauma, relationship patterns, burnout, and the impact of high-stress or caregiving roles, along with life transitions and shifts across different stages of life, including pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause. Many women come in feeling overwhelmed, self-critical, or unsure of themselves, and are trying to make sense of how past experiences, expectations, or relationship dynamics are still shaping their lives. If you’re drawn to slowing things down, getting curious about what’s going on, and taking a more thoughtful, insight-oriented approach to change, this may feel like a good fit.

For me, Laura Appleton is a phenomenal therapist. She explains why things are happening, and why the tools help, she doesn't just tell you to use them. I suffer from trauma/anxiety, and her explaining why my brain was reacting as it was, and what needed to be done to walk it back was the point where I knew I was going to be ok. She is also very easy to talk to, and has a calming effect.

In addition to the thorough orientation, my first session with Laura was very productive. We were able to build a positive working relationship quickly and I felt like I made some good initial progress in this first session. I left the session feeling a bit lighter, more empowered, and comforted knowing I am on the right path toward healing and wellbeing. Laura’s bio helped me to choose a therapist that I believe will be a good fit for me, and in alignment with my personal wellness goals.
