I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience due to my role in nursing education and mental health. I am an Assistant Professor of Instruction at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. I received my PMHNP certificate from Ohio University and am currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). My husband, a therapist (LPCC), and I planted a non-denominational church, River City Fellowship, in Gallipolis, Ohio which deepened our commitment to mental health and community support.

Through motivational interviewing I hope to inspire and empower clients while providing a safe relaxed environment.
Strengths
For clients across the lifespan from children to older adults, I offer medication management, Motivational Interviewing, empowerment, solution-oriented, and affirming mental health care.
Ideal clients
I employ a warm holistic approach accepting clients of all ages from children to older adults. I value spending more time with clients and can do so through private practice. I am an advocate for breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centered counseling approach that can be highly effective in psychiatric mental health nursing practice. It’s designed to enhance motivation to change by helping patients explore and resolve ambivalence. By working collaboratively with patients rather than taking a directive approach, drawing out the patient’s own motivations for change, and respecting the patient’s autonomy and supporting their ability to make decisions about their treatment I have had success with this treatment method.
Christian Counseling
For those that are seeking Christian counseling, I employ faith-based counseling in my practice. My husband and I planted a non-denominational church in our community in 2006 and have provided faith-based counseling since.
