New to Grow
Hi, I’m J’Nea, a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health. I support children, teens, adults, women, and families navigating anxiety, life transitions, emotional challenges, self-esteem concerns, and relationship difficulties. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. Together, we will build practical tools, recognize your strengths, and work toward meaningful, lasting growth.
During our first session, my priority is helping you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. We will discuss what brought you to therapy, the challenges you have been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I will ask questions to better understand your history, current needs, strengths, and support system. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and share any concerns about the therapy process. Together, we will begin identifying meaningful and realistic goals for treatment. You do not need to have everything figured out before coming—just arrive as you are, and we will take the next steps together.
I bring warmth, empathy, patience, authenticity, and genuine care into every session. My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own experiences. I create a nonjudgmental environment where clients can speak openly while feeling respected and supported. I balance holding space with gently challenging unhelpful thoughts and patterns when needed. I also adapt my approach to each client’s age, personality, culture, needs, and goals. When working with children and families, I incorporate creativity, age-appropriate activities, and practical tools that can be used outside of therapy. My goal is for every client to leave sessions feeling understood, encouraged, and equipped to move forward.
My ideal clients are children, teens, adults, women, and families who may be experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, parenting challenges, grief, or major life transitions. They may feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, stuck, or unsure of where to begin, but are open to receiving support and developing healthier coping skills. I work best with clients who want a warm, collaborative therapeutic relationship where they can explore their experiences without judgment, recognize their strengths, and make meaningful changes at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.
I use CBT to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns and develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking and responding. I also provide practical coping tools that clients can use between sessions to manage anxiety, regulate emotions, solve problems, and navigate stressful situations.
I use a person-centered approach to create a warm, accepting, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe expressing themselves. I meet each client where they are and tailor therapy to their individual needs, experiences, culture, strengths, and goals. Clients are encouraged to move at a pace that feels comfortable while building greater self-awareness and confidence.
I use a strengths-based approach to help clients recognize the abilities, resources, and resilience they already possess. Together, we build upon those strengths to increase confidence, overcome challenges, and create meaningful change. This helps clients view themselves as capable participants in their healing rather than being defined by their difficulties.
I use family therapy to help family members improve communication, understand one another’s perspectives, and develop healthier ways of navigating conflict and change. Together, we explore patterns affecting the family, identify each person’s strengths and needs, and practice practical strategies that support healthier relationships. I create space for each family member to feel heard while keeping the family’s shared goals at the center of our work.
I use a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes emotional safety, trust, collaboration, and personal choice. I help clients understand how difficult experiences may affect their emotions, relationships, thoughts, and responses. Clients are never pressured to share before they feel ready. We move at a manageable pace while developing coping skills, strengthening emotional regulation, and supporting healing.
