Welcome! I'm Rochelle, I am glad you have taken a moment for yourself, to explore therapy and how it could help in your wellness journey. Things seem so hard right now; the world seems to be a different place and it feels like we are more isolated and disconnected. The struggles with anxiety and depression seems to be greater. Those who have had traumatic events in their life are dealing with the impact of those wounds with increased intensity. Individuals who are going through life transitions are finding it difficult to navigate the changes that result. Therapy can be a wonderful tool to help manage these challenges and feeling better. It can provide you with information to gain perspective and help you make better decisions, teach you skills to cope, manage depression and anxiety; process the traumatic events and support you in moving with the changes. Therapy can be so helpful but at the same time a hard step to take, I know I have been there and worked with others who have had hesitation, but if you are here, checking it out it might be worth the next step.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first, visit will be an opportunity to get to know each other. It will be a time to talk about what brought you here and explore how I can help. I think it is very important that you feel comfortable with who you are working with, and this first meeting is an opportunity to get a sense of my style and if I am a good fit for you. If you need an appointment time other, then what is available please feel free to message me or schedule a 15 min consultation call and we can find a time that works.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Hi, I am Rochelle, and I am a LCSW and EMDR certified therapist. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and Case Western University with a Master of Science in social administration. In the past 10 years I have focused on understanding trauma and how it impacts us, in ways we never guessed. I have spent time learning about mindfulness, somatic work and yoga. I was drawn to this field because of my desire to help others. I have spent my life learning about people and how to support them during difficult times. I have learned that life can be harder than anyone expected and when life gets hard, we sometimes struggle with knowing what to do. During these times, we need support, and I am here as a support if you need one. I have over 25+ years of education and professional experience, not to mention I am a person who has faced challenging times myself. All of these things have shaped me into the person and professional before you. I am dedicated to extending kindness and compassion, providing a safe and non-judgmental space, and an opportunity to spark curiosity about the possibilities.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I spend a lot of time with people who are dealing with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation and who engage in self-harming patterns of behavior. I have specialized training and certification in trauma, and EMDR. I focus on helping people look at their lives and what is getting in the way of their personal wellbeing and happiness. Then, we work together to develop insight and understanding, reshape the ways we do life by developing self-care routines, communication skills & interpersonal boundaries, and skills to manage depression and anxiety and traumas.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is an eight phase, structured therapy approach that focuses on reprocessing traumas and adverse life events that are interfering with your personal wellbeing. Initially EMDR was targeted for individuals with PTSD but the benefits of EMDR have been proven to help with anxiety and depression and other mental health needs. What we have come to know is that past events create a foundation that influences how we live life in the here and now. Those past events are powerful and can impact how with deal with life in the present moment. Present moment life events can trigger the past and this becomes an opportunity for depression, anxiety, negative thoughts, withdrawal, self-harm and anger to get the best of us. I was going through a major life event that led me to an EMDR therapist and my life was forever changed. I had been a therapist for many years, but this was so powerful I knew it was a tool to help others. I began studying EMDR in 2014 and got certified in 2019 and continued to learn about trauma and healing. EMDR is the primary treatment modality used in my practice due to the benefit to the individuals that come to my office for support in their journey.
