LCSW, 20 years of experience
I am a psychotherapist who offers a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative approach to healing. I specialize in working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, personality disorders, and relationship challenges. Drawing from evidence-based practices such as DBT, CBT, and ACT, I help clients build emotional insight, resilience, and meaningful change. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel understood and empowered in your growth.
In our first session, we’ll begin by exploring what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll ask questions about your history, current challenges, and what support looks like for you. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you feel seen and heard without judgment. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, just come as you are. This session is about getting to know each other and beginning to build a connection that supports your healing and growth.
Clients often share that they feel genuinely understood and emotionally safe in our work together. I bring a grounded, compassionate presence and a deep understanding of complex emotional and relational patterns. My strengths lie in helping clients increase self-awareness, regulate intense emotions, and shift long-standing behaviors, especially in the context of trauma and personality dynamics. Using evidence-based approaches like DBT, CBT, and ACT, I help clients develop practical tools while also exploring the deeper roots of their struggles for lasting, meaningful change.
I work best with adults who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. Many of my clients struggle with overwhelming emotions, difficult relationships, anxiety, depression, or the impact of trauma. Others are navigating the complexities of identity, self-worth, or personality patterns that create distress. Whether you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or emotionally reactive, I support individuals who are open to reflection, willing to explore new tools, and committed to creating more balanced, authentic lives.

Heather understands my challenges and I trust that she will guide me to face my fears and find confidence again. She is comfortable to work with and I feel heard and respected. She is challenging me but at a pace, I can handle right now. I recommend her confidently.
I am certified (C-DBT) in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and utilize DBT to assist clients with emotional dysregulation, distress tolerance skills building, and improving interpersonal skills. This treatment method is especially beneficial for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), borderline personality disorder, (BPD), anxiety, and self-harming behaviors.
Mindfulness based therapy is especially effective in the treatment of anxiety, emotional dysregulation, distress tolerance, stress, grief, PTSD, and depression. I utilize mindfulness based therapy which helps us to be more intentionally aware, engaged, and present with what is happening in the moment. It involves being in the moment. I often say, "When we have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, we should on today."
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) involves helping one understand how thoughts lead to feelings and how we can examine our beliefs to better understand how they distort our thoughts, which often lead to negative feelings. Thoughts and feelings lead to behaviors. CBT helps to develop practical ways to identify, challenge, and replace unhelpful response patterns with more adaptive, healthy, feelings, thoughts and behaviors. I utilize CBT in the treatment of depression, anxiety, borderline personality, and bipolar disorders.
