Thank you for taking the first step and being here. Are you experiencing hurdles in life such as work stress, family issues, or relationship difficulties/issues? Do you suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma or grief? Do you often find it difficult to find the words to describe your feelings? Or to open up to people and feel a connection with them? Most likely, you've answered yes to at least one of these areas of concern. You are not alone; in the emotions, experiences, and pain that comes with life. I believe that every person who seeks counseling has their own answers to their unique situations and my role is to facilitate finding those answers. My style is relational and collaborative, respecting your pace and autonomy in therapy. Given that we are all multi-dimensional beings, I am committed to understanding the ways your unique identity and roles shape your experiences. As you gain comfort sharing yourself, vulnerably. I have 20 years of experience and specialize in anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, phase of life issues, end of life, grief and loss, advanced chronic illness, palliative care, peer relationships, coping skills, stress identification and reduction, and women's issues. I look forward to working together to reach your goals!
In our first session we will engage in brief introductions, review history as well as presenting issues, and formulate a treatment plan that will best meet your needs.
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to listen without judgement while building relationships of mutual respect and trust. I thoroughly enjoy working with adults and clients 65 and older.
Heather Rangel offers therapy covered by Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal in California.
I am certified (C-DBT) in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and utilize DBT to assist clients with emotional dysregulation, distress tolerance skills building, and improving interpersonal skills. This treatment method is especially beneficial for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), borderline personality disorder, (BPD), anxiety, and self-harming behaviors.
Mindfulness based therapy is especially effective in the treatment of anxiety, emotional dysregulation, distress tolerance, stress, grief, PTSD, and depression. I utilize mindfulness based therapy which helps us to be more intentionally aware, engaged, and present with what is happening in the moment. It involves being in the moment. I often say, "When we have one foot in the past and one foot in the future, we should on today."
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) involves helping one understand how thoughts lead to feelings and how we can examine our beliefs to better understand how they distort our thoughts, which often lead to negative feelings. Thoughts and feelings lead to behaviors. CBT helps to develop practical ways to identify, challenge, and replace unhelpful response patterns with more adaptive, healthy, feelings, thoughts and behaviors. I utilize CBT in the treatment of depression, anxiety, borderline personality, and bipolar disorders.
