Dr Robb Kerr

LPC (he/him)35 years of experience

With over three decades of clinical experience, I provide insight-oriented psychotherapy for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, compulsive behaviors, and relationship concerns. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck or discouraged by patterns that continue despite real effort. My approach is psychodynamic and relational. Together we explore how earlier experiences shape current emotions, self-esteem, and relationships. In a supportive, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, understanding deepens and symptoms such as worry, low mood, and emotional reactivity often begin to ease. In a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, understanding deepens and symptoms such as worry, low mood, fear, and emotional reactivity often begin to ease. I work with life transitions, grief, career stress, and intimacy difficulties. Psychotherapy/Counseling is more than symptom relief, but helping you regain confidence, resilience, and hope. If you are looking for an experienced, compassionate and thoughtful therapist, I would be glad to speak with you.

First session

I’m often told that I’m easy to talk to, laidback, and approachable. When you step into therapy with me, you’ll find an open, supportive, and completely non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever is on your mind. My goal is to make therapy a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. I understand that life can be overwhelming at times, and I want you to know that you don’t have to navigate those challenges alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way, whether you’re facing significant struggles or simply want to explore what it means to live a more fulfilling and authentic life. There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing someone I work with begin to find hope and realize their own capacity for change.

Strengths

I’ve always been deeply curious about how the human mind works and how our thoughts and emotions shape our lives. I’ve seen time and again how life-changing therapy can be, not just in addressing challenges but in helping individuals rediscover hope and purpose. Therapy offers the opportunity to sit with someone who listens deeply and helps you gain a clearer understanding of yourself and your experiences. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening in your life and identify solutions that work for you — ones that feel authentic and achievable for you as an individual.

Ideal clients

I focus on approaches that are tailored to each person’s needs and experiences. One of the ways I support clients is by helping them recognize their strengths. It’s often easy to get caught up in what feels wrong or overwhelming in life. Together, we’ll identify the qualities and resources you already have — your unique talents, skills, and inner strengths—and use those as building blocks for overcoming challenges and moving forward with confidence. I also work with clients by drawing from psychoanalytic / psychodynamic theories, which aim to explore how past experiences may be shaping their present. This involves gently uncovering patterns, memories, and experiences from earlier in life that might still influence your thoughts, emotions, and relationships today. For many people, life is a mix of dynamics that can feel confusing or overwhelming at times. Therapy can help you make sense of these layers, connecting the dots between your inner world and how you experience the world around you. By understanding these connections, we can begin to address old wounds or habits that no longer serve you, creating space for healing and growth.

Treatment methods

Psychodynamic

My experience as a Clinician utilizing Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is effective in the treatment for a wide-range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, compulsions, trauma, fear and stress. This particular approach to counseling/psychotherapy focuses not only on symptoms but the causes of emotional difficulties. The work between the counselor/psychotherapist can be described as a “snapshot” into the real life struggles and relational patterns that are unique to the patient’s life. The ultimate goal for the person in counseling/psychotherapy is to begin to flourish in their lives and mental health improvement. Scientific studies have demonstrated that psychodynamic counseling/psychotherapy are effective and the benefits are lasting. I strive to provide an atmosphere that is open, welcoming and nonjudgmental. I have over 34 years of clinical and academic experience and look forward to assisting patients to grow and improve in their personal and professional lives.
