Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

What you can expect with me on your first session is a warm and welcoming conversation. It is important for me for us to establish a rapport and see if the fit is good. Of course there will be questions but I enjoy more of a conversation. From that visit we will determine appropriate goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a provider, I really pride myself on connecting with clients. I enjoy learning about clients and truly working to understand where they are currently and where they want to go. I have been told by my clients that they don't feel like they are coming to see a therapist when they meet with me.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I take each client as they are. I enjoy working with clients that are ready to put in the work to help themselves. I specialize with clients that have mood disorders, anxiety or depression. Therapy is what we make of it. I often describe therapy as if we are in a car together and as the passenger I am available to assist but ultimately, it is up to you to decide to take the steps needed to achieve your goals. It is not easy to start therapy. It takes incredible strength to open up to a stranger.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has been a beneficial treatment method that I have used throughout my 9 years of experience. I find that helping clients to see how our thoughts impact our actions is helpful. It is often very easy for us to see the negative in life and all the bad things around us. Unfortunately, those images and views are plastered all over and we do often do not realize that we are also taking those in and normalizing it. It has become more difficult to see the good in the world and in the everyday. Utilizing CBT, we can take a look at those thoughts and work together to change how we view ourselves and the world around us.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness-based therapy to assist in being aware of what our body is telling us. Often times, we know the answers we seek but we misunderstand what our own body is saying. Using techniques like meditation help us to settle our thoughts and be able to feel where stressors begin and attempt to stop them before they get too far.

Motivational Interviewing

I have used Motivational Interviewing (MI) for years in my practice. It has been helpful to find what truly motivates us in working towards our goals.

Strength-Based

Focusing and leaning on our own strengths is an important part of therapy, but throughout the years I have noticed many do not know their own strengths. We all have strengths and it is beneficial to use those strengths to help fix what we consider our weakenesses.
