Hi! My name is Trudy and I have been a licensed professional counselor for 14 years. I believe that life is a journey and that sometimes on that journey, you can get lost and need help to find your way "out of the forest" and back to the road that leads to the best version of yourself so you can live your best life. We can also have things happen to us that are difficult, if not almost impossible to deal with alone. You may need someone who is not personally involved in your life to listen to you. Someone who has personal experience with the issues you are facing who can help you find your way back to a meaningful, fulfilling and productive life. I am contracted to Grow Therapy but work remote from home which seems to work better for many people because you can talk to me from the place you are most comfortable on your schedule. I am here waiting to hear from you and would like to listen to you and then help you find your way back to a meaningful, productive and fulfilling life. My purpose is to walk beside you, listen to your story and your concerns. I will then use what life has taught me and what those wiser than me have taught me, to help you on your journey. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it gives you the “tools” to use to be successful in overcoming challenges and dealing with what you encounter on your journey but I will recommend using whatever I believe will work best for you personally. I hope to hear from you soon so I can help you get back to living your best life!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is that I learned how to counsel in the "boot camp" of life. The reason I wanted to become a counselor was that I had come from a dysfunctional family and then when I became an adult, I had to face the realities of life and overcome numerous issues including divorce, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, loss of family members, addiction and eventually feeling hopeless. That is when I hit rock bottom and started reaching out for help from what seemed like a hole I had fallen into but no hands were reaching out to help. That is when I realized that there was a stigma against mental illness and also even if people want to help you, they often don't know what to do and have their own problems to handle. When I realized that if I wanted to get better, I would have to do it mostly on my own. I decided to go back to school and become a counselor so I could help others who needed help getting mentally healthy and finding their way back to their best life. Feeling helpless and alone with no hope is the worst place to be. I am truly committed to helping the clients that I work with to heal and learn coping skills and techniques that will keep them mentally healthy. I have counseled for 14 years and have developed techniques that clients have told me worked to help them, after they had tried other techniques with other counselors and had not gotten the help they needed. I have worked on teletherapy for 4 years and have a 5 star rating and excellent reviews with the last teletherapy company. I have learned that what helps people the most is having someone to listen to them that is not personally involved in their lives and will allow them to "lay their cards on the table" and after you have shared, we will decide what issue you want to work on first. We will keep working until you get to where you want to be.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that aims to reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily depression, PTSD and anxiety disorders. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions (such as thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and their associated behaviors to improve emotional regulation and develop personal coping strategies that target solving current problems. I prefer this treatment method because it provides the client with techniques to use to reach their goal of improved mental health.
