Welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in North Carolina. I provide trauma-informed therapy and have extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My goal is to help clients feeling stuck, helpless, overwhelmed, or just tired of repeating patterns break free, heal, and become the best version of themselves. Just like a pearl is formed out of painful experience, so can psychological and emotional pain be transformed into something beautiful!
In our first session, I will spend time getting to know you in order to best develop a treatment plan that will be effective in helping you heal and grow. I'm also happy to answer any questions you have for me!
I live by the philosophy that I can't expect others to take a journey I'm not willing to take. Much of my passion and expertise has come from my own personal healing journey and passion that led me to a deep conviction and commitment to finding ways to help others on their journey.
Using CBT, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we focus on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. By understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, wr can develop coping strategies to overcome challenges. CBT is highly effective for anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, promoting lasting positive change.
DBT is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that emphasizes acceptance and change. Using this model, you will master regulating emotions, develop interpersonal skills, and better tolerate distress. DBT provides tools for managing intense emotions and improving relationships.
As a Trauma-informed therapist, I emphasize understanding and responding to the impacts of trauma. I recognize the prevalence of trauma and its effects on individuals, and create an environment that promote safety, empowerment, and sensitivity. This promotes healing and recovery can occur with compassion and understanding.
Motivational interviewing is a client-centered counseling approach aimed at resolving ambivalence to change. It empowers individuals to explore and resolve their own reasons for change, rather than imposing external solutions. By fostering empathy, collaboration, and autonomy, it helps clients find intrinsic motivation to pursue positive behavior changes.
As a Christian, I integrate spiritual beliefs and practices into various aspects of therapeutic process when requested/preferred. Our spirituality is an important part of personal growth, healing, and decision-making. These strategies aim to align actions with one's faith convictions and values.
