I have worked as a psychiatric nurse in various mental health settings for over 12 years and have been a prescriber for the past three years. I do not claim to be an expert. Psychiatry is an ever-changing and vast field that has yet to fully appreciate the complexities of the human mind. Similarly, the field of psychiatry has yet to be fully appreciated and respected for how our social and biological experiences interlock and influence the harmony of our overall mental and physical health. I strive to balance these realities while keeping in mind the patient's desires and their vision of what their care should entail.
For our first session, we will meet for 45 minutes to 60 minutes. We will address any 'housekeeping' issues for charting, documentation, and insurance purposes. We will talk, human being to human being. We will discuss any medical issues you have and your psychiatric treatment history. Please be sure that I will manage and prescribe your psychiatric medications if you need them.
I have the kind of emotional intelligence that can not be taught or bought.
I am comfortable seeing patients who are comfortable seeing me. What does this mean? I encourage prospective patients to consider this type of nontraditional platform. If you, as a patient, are okay with video calls, emails, and texts and have consistent and reliable access to technology, then this will likely be a good fit. However, if you require crisis services or do not have access to consistent Wi-Fi and capable devices, you would benefit from a physical location.
