LCSW, 12 years of experience
Hello and Welcome, I am Maria Daly, a skilled therapist licensed to serve clients who are residents of Illinois. My experience over the past nine years has been counseling adults coping with grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, aging, and LGBTQ+ issues, as well as other areas. My approach to therapy is integrative, collaborative, and patient. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their experiences and discuss issues that they face and are seeking assistance with. I meet my clients where they are in life and will interactively discuss and set therapy goals. My goal is to work together toward healing/acceptance or whatever the goal may be that promotes a happier and healthier functioning client. I realize that, at times it takes courage to reach out for help and I admire you for taking a step toward a more fulfilled and happier life. I am here to support and empower you on that journey.
During our first session, my main goal is to create a comfortable and judgment-free space where you can talk openly about what’s been bringing you in. We’ll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what’s been happening in your life, what you’d like to work on, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This is your time — there’s no pressure to have everything figured out or to tell your full story right away. By the end of our session, we’ll have a clearer sense of your goals and the direction our work might take together. I’ll explain how the therapy process works, answer any questions, and outline what future sessions might look like. You can expect honesty, empathy, and collaboration — we’ll work together at your pace to build insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
My clinical style is integrative using Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment Therapies, Attachment Theory, Trauma Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and some Psychodynamic Therapy.
You will find when working with me that my interactive style is more laid back, that I am easy to talk to, and am capable of vast empathy. There's nothing we can't discuss if it is helpful. You will also notice that I have a strong belief that rapport and trust building is essential to our therapeutic relationship and you will be left feeling that I truly care about you, your situation, and your experiences. As one of my clients, your emotional wellbeing will always be a top priority and very important to me. I encourage and appreciate any feedback as I see it as opportunity for improvement.
I work with adults who want to feel more like themselves again — people who are tired of carrying the weight of anxiety, depression, or old wounds that just won’t seem to fade. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck or disconnected, wanting to understand what’s holding them back and how to move forward in a healthier way. I’m especially passionate about supporting those healing from trauma and helping members of the LGBTQ+ community navigate identity, relationships, and self-acceptance. My approach is compassionate, real, and collaborative — no judgment, no pretense. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel grounded, confident, and more at peace in your own life.
