New to Grow
Basically, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have a background of working with individuals but due to my family therapy training I do want to know your family situation and ways that work and don't work for you. I have been working with Medicare clients and SPMI (Severe and Persistent Mental Illness). Many time I have found that clients who usually manage their lives well can sometimes feel overwhelmed by changes in their lives. I truly want to locate and focus on strengths, but want to be supportive of areas where support is needed. Life can be difficult and learning coping skills can help us navigate both the highs and lows that life brings us. I am friendly and positive. I want to help you feel better. If there are traumas, I will listen. 🛷
I would like to get to know you and help you feel comfortable. Trust is a big issue. I may ask questions to help us work together in the best way to accomplish what problems most concern you.
I have been a therapist for 40 years which has given me a lot of experience in understanding the emotional problems that people go through. I have felt that I have helped people feel good about themselves. I am not one to judge and find differences fascinating. I'm a real person and do not hold myself aloof. I can give you suggestions that might help you successfully navigate situations that are difficult.
I, of course, would like clients who are clear about their issues but I know that issues of emotional pain such as anxiety and depression are not quick fixes. Having goals can help but not to the exclusion of gaining insight into what one is personally struggling with. Sometimes it takes time to explore traumas and surrounding problems such as family, work, our life stages and self acceptance. Sometime it is difficult to talk honestly or put into words how one is feeling.
I like to identify perceived problems. I understand that often there are multiple of these. Being able to acknowledge strengths and improved self-esteem can help with future issues that comes our way. How to approach life in ways that help us grow can help see that problems can be managed and resolved.
