Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me. My name is Janet and I have had the pleasure of working as therapist for over a decade. I have experience treating children, women, and families. I believe in the importance of tailoring care to the unique individual. Therefore, I like to spend time learning about my clients and what feels helpful to them specifically. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and more.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I will spend time learning about what brings you to therapy. I like to hear about what a typical day for you looks like and learning more about you. Together, we determine what we would like to focus on first, develop treatment goals and discuss what our sessions will look like. My hope is that you leave that first session feeling safe, with a sense of what to expect in our consecutive sessions and assured that you will learn a lot about yourself without judgement.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have over a decade of experience and have had the privilege to be trained in various treatment modalities. I like to describe myself as a clinician who focuses on creating a safe space for her clients, but also challenges them to look deeper and get curious about themselves. I like to utilize approaches that focus on the mind and body and gladly practice the techniques along with you.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients who are wanting to break generational trauma or dysfunctional dynamics. Parents who find that their past experiences and/or wounds are impacting how they feel as a parent or their relationship with their child/children. Women who want to feel better about themselves, improve their relationships or simply want to find more joy. Clients who are experiencing major life transitions, grief or feel isolated.

My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I used CPP to help dyads (i.e., parent-child, caregiver-child) strengthen their sense of safety, improve their relationship quality and their capacity to communicate with one another.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients get a better understanding of the relationships between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I have found that CBT helps my clients have more awareness of their thoughts which then facilitates their ability to challenge their thoughts and reframe them.

Attachment-based

I use an attachment-based approach with my clients to identify their attachment style and explore the dynamics of their relationship. This approach has also helped my clients learn more about their emotional needs and ways to communicate them in their relationships.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a great modality that helps increase one's emotional regulation capacity and improve the quality of your relationships. DBT provides an array of skills that can help shift our brain and body from survival mode to a more regulated state.

EMDR

EMDR is a great modality that uses eye movement and/or body tapping to help decrease the intensity of our triggers. It helps my clients process traumatic experiences, difficult feelings or body sensations without having to talk about it in detail. It helps strengthen the connection between mind and body.
