Konstance Kirby
Hi there, I'm Konstance! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of experience in a wide variety of settings. Due to my broad background, my clients often come to me because of issues relating to family conflict, work/life balance, anxiety, depression, stress management, low self-esteem, and emotional/psychological abuse.
First session
In our first session, you will spend time talking about specific things in your life, including your background, history, symptoms, relationships, health, and goals. I will ask some questions, and you will have space to share whatever will help us create a clear picture of what you want to accomplish through therapy.
Strengths
I'm purpose-driven with a history of serving the needs of: at-risk youth, homeless families with children, military veteran’s, and special needs populations. I also have a background in macro social work with successful community service and engagement.
Ideal clients
My style and approach are a good fit for individuals who want to learn how to their counter negative thoughts, regulate their emotions, tolerate distress, communicate effectively, and mindfully stay in the present. My ideal client wants to learn these skills to manifest their ideal life and be the best version of themselves. There may be difficult parts along the way; but it's all about addressing any pain and cultivating authentic joy and quality of life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a structured, short-term, and present-oriented approach designed to help clients evaluate and modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Rather than engaging in long-term therapy, my focus is on providing goal-oriented treatment that empowers individuals to develop practical coping skills and resolve their problems quickly.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I practice short-term, goal-oriented treatment using a flexible, DBT-informed approach to help clients manage emotion dysregulation and achieve their goals quickly.
Strength-Based
Utilizing a strengths-based stance allows me to facilitate gentle, non-offensive confrontation when clients feel stuck or stagnant. Presenting alternative viewpoints ensures that the therapeutic alliance remains an encouraging, nurturing, and collaborative environment where clients feel supported to move forward and grow.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
To help clients articulate their vision for change, I utilize specific solution-focused techniques to look past their current distress, and describe what their life and behavior would actually look like if their problem was resolved. We then break this vision down into actionable, short-term task plans to guide our focus between sessions.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness is utilized as an active tool to break unhelpful, rigid thought patterns. I use these techniques to help clients create space from sticky thoughts and cultivate self-acceptance, grounding them in the here and now so they can move toward meaningful life goals.
