Hello and welcome! My name is Brooke Tominey and I am a 2020 graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a Florida state Licensed Mental Health Counselor and an active member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association. I also hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University. I have clinical experience working with clients of all ages, but primarily I have had the most experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. For couples therapy, I am Level 1 Gottman and Prepare/Enrich certified. I also have experience caring for people who live with anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, loss/grief, LGBTQ+ issues, and dual diagnosis. Additionally, I help clients with family and relationship conflicts, gender/sexuality concerns, self-esteem, coping skills, interpersonal skills and relationships, trauma, adjustment disorders, and much more. It is my goal to create a compassionate, comfortable, nonjudgmental, and safe space for all of my clients who walk into my office. I try to adjust my style in order to address each client’s individual and specific needs. It has always been a passion of mine to help guide people to reach their full potential in their lives. It is difficult to make changes in our lives, but my goal is to encourage and empower all of my clients to make these positive changes over time. I like to use an eclectic style of therapeutic techniques such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, strength-based therapy, and various play therapy and trauma techniques. **Feel free to contact me via phone/text for more information - 941-777-3198
Counseling sessions with me can vary depending on the client's needs. During the first session, I try to provide a comfortable space to build rapport, set goals, and review them every so often to show progress or we can change our goals as needed. My goal is to empower you along the way to make these changes in your life, which can be difficult at times. We also may work together to complete activities or "homework" to direct and strengthen our sessions. I pride myself on working with my clients to determine how/what form of treatment options work best for you!
In my opinion, my biggest strength would be providing a safe space for my clients to be their authentic selves, whether in person or online, and providing them with empathetic listening without any form of judgment. I also have experience working a lot with children, adolescents, and young adults and have developed my own teen group in the past that has been very successful. However, I am also striving to learn more to become the best version of myself and provide the same for my clients.

My treatment method varies from client to client and tends to be more eclectic since everyone is individual and may need something more structured than others. My primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because I believe our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors all work together to impact us and symptoms. I also incorporate aspects of solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, strength-based therapy, and various play therapy and trauma techniques for those who prefer those modalities.
