I am Dorian Turner- Licensed clinical social worker and founder of iThriveTherapy PLLC. Providing mental health services since 2013. I specialize in working with high-achieving women who experience high-functioning anxiety—the kind of anxiety that doesn’t stop you from succeeding, but makes everything feel harder than it should. My clients are often driven, capable, and dependable, yet struggle with chronic overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, difficulty resting, and constant pressure to “do more.”
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In their first session with me, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they will have the opportunity to share their concerns, goals, and reasons for seeking therapy. I will begin by introducing myself and explaining the therapeutic process, including confidentiality and the therapeutic relationship. I will then conduct an initial assessment to gather relevant information about the client's background, current situation, and reasons for seeking therapy. Throughout the session, I will actively listen to the client's story, validate their experiences, and collaborate with them to identify their strengths and areas for growth. By the end of the session, clients can expect to have a clearer understanding of their therapeutic goals and how we will work together to achieve them. Additionally, I will answer any questions they may have about the therapeutic process and discuss potential next steps for treatment. Overall, the first session is an opportunity for clients to begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship and feel supported as they embark on their journey towards healing and personal growth.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach is collaborative, practical, and compassionate, blending evidence-based strategies with mindfulness and insight-oriented work. Therapy is not about fixing you—it’s about helping you feel grounded, confident, and aligned with the life you’re already working so hard to build.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I specialize in working with high-achieving women who experience high-functioning anxiety. You don’t have to keep carrying everything alone. Relief is possible—and you don’t have to give up your goals to find it.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This modality helps my clients gain a greater awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop healthy coping techniques for maladaptive thoughts, feelings and behaviors all while navigating difficulties in life.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use mindfulness to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, allowing them to respond to stressors more adaptively. I often incorporate mindfulness exercises like guided meditation or breathwork in sessions to ground clients in the present moment. This approach helps clients reduce rumination, manage anxiety, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
Strength-Based
I use a strengths-based approach to empower clients by focusing on their existing strengths and resources to address challenges. This method involves identifying and building upon clients' inherent abilities and successes, which fosters resilience and self-efficacy. By highlighting these strengths in sessions, I help clients gain confidence and motivation to achieve their therapeutic goals.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients identify and build on solutions rather than focusing on problems. This approach involves setting clear, achievable goals and working with clients to explore what’s already working in their lives to create positive change. By emphasizing small, manageable steps, SFBT helps clients quickly gain a sense of progress and empowerment.
