New clients continue care with this provider

Congratulations on taking the first step in finding support - it's not easy to ask for help! My name is Bryssa (Bree-sa) and I am here for you. I aim to provide all of my clients with empathy, care and authentic support for what they are experiencing. I want to help my clients set boundaries, learn to identify and communicate their emotions, find their power and develop their sense of self worth. I have my Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) as well as my Masters in Social Work (MSW), though I joke that I was born a social worker. I hold an LCSW license (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and am committed to the values of social work in everything that I do: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity and competence.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you will be welcomed warmly with a smile and authentic conversation. I will begin to explore your counseling goals in order to best meet your individual needs. I also like to begin to explore the "type" of therapist you are seeking. Are you someone who wants honest feedback that might challenge you? Or do you prefer a tender approach that leads you to make your own connections? I look forward to getting to know more about YOU!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The greatest compliment I have heard from my clients is that I am a tried and true cheerleader for them. I bring a positive attitude to each session without discrediting the difficult situations that clients may be experiencing. I have an ability to join with my clients so that they do not feel alone. Don't be surprised if I bring up details from past sessions - I have a great memory and think it's important to remember important moments, dates, and exciting plans in my clients' lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy connecting with all humans. I am known to strike up a conversation in the grocery store line and end up hearing the other person's story in a matter of minutes. I think that connection is the foundation of the human experience. I especially love working with adolescents, young adults and individuals who are developing a sense of who they are and validating that change is hard! I specialized in family studies during my undergraduate learning and I look forward to transferring that knowledge to my therapeutic sessions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an intervention used to treat anxiety, depression and other mental health disorders. It is a model that focuses on connecting thoughts, feelings/emotions and behaviors in order to establish coping skills to be able to develop resilience through triggering situations and experiences. I like to utilize CBT to determine the narratives and frame of mind that you are operating from, how those perspectives and ideas may be holding you back, and work alongside of you to shift them toward neutral or positive thinking.

Strength-Based

A strengths based approach is the core of my practice. As a social worker, we are trained to focus on the strengths that each client uniquely posses and support them in recognizing and building confidence in their own strengths in order to combat negative thoughts or emotions.

Supportive

A good therapist is supportive and empathetic. I pride myself in the way that I support clients and use empathy to understand the presenting concerns from the client's perspective. I will never know what it is like to walk in my client's shoes, but I know that as humans, we will all need support and empathy throughout various stages in our lives.
