New to Grow
My name is Tramaine Jones, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP), and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) serving individuals and families throughout Virginia. I am the founder of Stable Beings Family Solutions, where I provide compassionate, evidence-based mental health counseling for children, adolescents, and adults. At Stable Beings Family Solutions, we specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, life transitions, and substance use concerns. My approach is client-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative to empower each individual to build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. Our mission is to stabilize families, strengthen communities, and support every client's journey toward healing and wellness.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to counseling, your current concerns, your personal and family history, and the goals you hope to achieve through therapy. I'll also ask questions about your emotional, physical, and social well-being to understand your unique experiences and strengths better. This session is a judgment-free space where you can share at your own pace. Together, we'll identify your priorities, answer any questions you have about the counseling process, and develop an initial treatment plan tailored to your needs. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and supported as we begin your journey toward healing and personal growth.
I bring a warm, authentic, and nonjudgmental approach to every session, creating a space where clients feel safe to be themselves. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change, so I take time to listen, understand each client's unique experiences, and collaborate on goals that are realistic and personally meaningful. My background includes working with children, adolescents, adults, military service members and their families, and individuals experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and substance use disorders. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness techniques, tailoring treatment to each client's needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. What sets my practice apart is my commitment to meeting clients where they are while helping them recognize their strengths and build practical skills they can use in everyday life. I strive to create an environment where clients feel empowered, respected, and supported as they work toward lasting emotional wellness and personal growth.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults who are seeking support for emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, substance use concerns, relationship difficulties, life transitions, stress, or challenges related to emotional regulation. I also enjoy working with military service members, veterans, military families, and individuals adjusting to significant personal or professional changes. My ideal clients are those who are ready to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping skills, and make meaningful changes in their lives. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about the future, but they are willing to engage in the therapeutic process and work toward personal growth at a pace that feels right for them. Whether you are looking to heal from past experiences, improve your relationships, manage difficult emotions, strengthen your recovery, or simply build a healthier and more balanced life, I provide a supportive, collaborative, and evidence-based approach tailored to your unique goals and strengths.
Other specialties
I identify as
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use a person-centered approach by creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and accepted. I believe each person has the capacity for growth and healing, and my role is to help clients recognize their strengths, explore their experiences, and develop solutions that align with their values and goals. Rather than directing the therapy process, I collaborate with clients at their own pace, using empathy, active listening, and genuine curiosity to foster self-awareness and personal growth. This approach helps clients build confidence, strengthen self-acceptance, and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives.
Trauma Informed Care
I provide trauma-informed care by recognizing the impact that trauma can have on a person's emotions, relationships, behaviors, and overall well-being. My priority is to create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where clients feel respected, heard, and in control of their therapeutic journey. I work collaboratively with clients to understand how past experiences may influence present challenges while avoiding re-traumatization. Treatment is paced according to each client's readiness and incorporates evidence-based interventions that build emotional regulation, resilience, healthy coping skills, and a greater sense of safety. Throughout the therapeutic process, I emphasize trust, collaboration, cultural sensitivity, and each client's strengths, helping them move toward healing and long-term recovery.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to emotional distress or interfering with daily functioning. By learning to recognize and challenge these patterns, clients can develop healthier perspectives and more effective coping strategies. CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that includes building skills to manage anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, stress, anger, and substance use triggers. I often incorporate techniques such as cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, behavioral activation, coping skills training, and relaxation strategies to help clients create meaningful, lasting changes in their everyday lives.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help clients manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and respond to stressful situations more effectively. DBT emphasizes balancing acceptance and change, helping clients acknowledge their experiences while developing practical strategies to create positive, lasting improvements in their lives. In therapy, I teach skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These techniques help clients cope with overwhelming emotions, reduce impulsive or self-defeating behaviors, strengthen communication, establish healthy boundaries, and build resilience. I tailor DBT interventions to each client's needs and often integrate them with other evidence-based approaches to support lasting emotional wellness.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and collaborative conversations to help them identify their own motivations, strengths, and reasons for making positive changes. This approach is especially effective for clients working through substance use concerns, lifestyle changes, behavioral challenges, and other situations where motivation may fluctuate. By building confidence, increasing self-awareness, and reinforcing each client's ability to make meaningful choices, Motivational Interviewing empowers clients to take ownership of their goals and create lasting, self-directed change.
