(she/her)
I go by Becky and have been working with children and families since 2004. I have provided many different kinds of case management and therapeutic services in my social work career. I believe that wellness includes many factors of a person's life--mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Some of those things in your life might be in balance while other areas are not. You probably already have the ability to manage many situation or challenges with a combination of existing strengths and learned skills; we can add to those together. My enjoy using play therapy. Through play child, families, and (yes!) adults can work through many issues in their lives. The best part is all the hard work doesn't feel like work. We learn skills by playing throughout our entire lives beginning with playing peek-a-boo; on the grade school play ground; sports and backyard games; as well as board games and card games with friends. If playing isn't for you, I also provide the traditional "talk therapy" that most people are familiar. I received a specialization in Military Social Work during my master’s program at USC and have a passion for working with those, both children and adults, who have experienced trauma. Trauma can show up in a lot of different ways and look like many things. In counseling, we can use a combination of CBT, solution focused, and problem-solving therapy, along with Motivational Interviewing, trauma therapies, and Play Therapy when appropriate. Your plan, developed in your words, will be a great road map for reaching your desired destination. I would be honored to walk with you along that path. Seeking help reflects the courage and drive that you already have within you.
I try to gather as much information as possible without feeling interviewed. I want to get to know you and learn what is important in your life. I hope to create a space where you can feel comfortable sharing your story and feel heard. It is important to me that I give you some action step before the end of session, so you can see how progress is possible.
My biggest strength is working with others, really working with you. Therapy is a collaborative experience. I am ready to bring my training and knowledge to the expert on you (that's you). Our professional relationship is important in helping you grow into or out of whatever stage, area, or space you find yourself right now. I place a lot of emphasis on your strengths and knowledge as well as your ability to evolve. I find that my best role is a teammate, battle buddy, or travel companion, but I am also willing to be the support at your back or the help up when needed. We will figure out how I can best support you.
I can really work with anyone, but I believe that we have to develop a level of trust first. It is all about how comfortable you feel in session. I prefer to work with children under the age of 13 in person.
Other specialties
I identify as
Play Therapy
I provide play therapy treatment for anyone interested in exploring new ways of coping or self expression. For children under the age of 13, in person therapy is usually necessary. Adults and some teens will find that virtual play therapy can be very beneficial as well.
Strength-Based
I am a social worker first and foremost. We start where you are today, set the goals that are important to you, and look at the skills you already have developed.

Very genuine, warm energy. We clicked instantly. She was very nice, and was very easy to talk to. She gave me some great advice and things to try until our next session, and im very optomistically looking forward to our next session.

This was my first virtual meeting and boy was I a ball of nerves. The honest truth within the first few minutes after introductions I instantly felt my tightened shoulders start to ease. Becky was so kindly welcoming. She allowed me to un-bottled a few important reasons for setting up the appointment and listened with care and respect. She made me feel comfortable with her down to earth personality which helped tremendously. She opened conversation and gave me some good examples to ponder.

I'm very much appreciating that Rebecca has the ability and willingness to push back on things or give suggestions that sometimes may not perfectly align with something I said. And I'm not sure how to explain this except to say that unconditional positive regard is great in therapy. But I feel like it has its limits and I really need someone that can help me see a solution and not just affirm me. And so I feel like she has a really good balance in this regard.
