It is often said that life is a journey in which you experience"ups and downs". Unfortunately for many who experience a down time, there are difficulties overcoming barriers when trying to go back "up" again. I want to meet you where you are when you are overwhelmed by those barriers. I want to walk with you and work with you toward an improved quality of life while helping you arm yourself with the necessary tools to navigate through any future barriers. My name is Johnathan Lein. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW - LMSW-C) originally from Michigan with over 25 years of experience in psychotherapy. I graduated with my BA in Sociology/Social Work in 1983 and earned my MSW in Social Work in 2001. After working under clinical supervision I became fully licensed in 2006. I have spent my career working in three areas: Medical Social Work, Educational Social Work and Psychotherapy/Counseling. I have worked with young people, adults, geriatric adults, and individuals in the LBGTQ community. I have also been a school administrator in both the public and private sectors in two states. I want to highlight a "population" that I have vast experience with; and that is the Medical Provider population. Those who are medical students all the way to Doctors, Nurses, PA's and Nurse Practitioners.
The first session is a chance for you and I to get to know one another better. I want to see who you are; not just the issues you bring to therapy. I want to establish a rapport that you are comfortable with; and ease you in to the process of therapy.
I see my clients as People not just clients. I want to establish that we will work together, side by side, to tackle the barriers that they are encountering to a quality filled life. I will work hard and encourage my clients to work just as hard. I have over 35 years of experience in therapy and am equipped to handle almost anything my clients bring to me.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one of numerous therapies I use in treatment because it is very successful in helping clients suffering from depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, and even some PTSD. However, I also use other treatment therapies depending on the client and the issue presented.
I use Person-Centered-Therapy because it focuses on just who the client is. It is an "affirming" therapy.
Psychodynamic Therapy is helpful in helping a client look at their past in a non-threatening way.
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy with clients who are experiencing very intense emotions.
I use ACT in helping a client face emotions and feelings rather than running from them.
