Salutations. I am Dr Lisa Thompson-Dyson, EdD, MAPC, LCPC licensed in Illinois and Nevada. I completed my graduate work at Olivet Nazarene University and have 15 years as a licensed therapist plus another 15 years counseling experience as a para-professional. I help my clients gain tools to manage and overcome life challenges such as anxiety, relationship issues, anxiety, trauma, women's issues, and faith-spirituality issues. My clients include women (including those they love, and those that love them), troubled youth/adolescents and their families, persons with serious mental illness, and persons experiencing distress from life changes and/or trauma.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then discuss the specific challenges you're facing so that together we can create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
From my experience supporting women, troubled youth/young adults (their families), persons dealing with spiritual life issues, and SMI, I have developed effective processes to move forward in life thru setting goals and offering practical strategies to build resilience, and gain strengths.
For over 30 years of providing mental, and emotional support to my clients, I have used an Eclectic therapeutic approach to meet my clients at their need level, then partner with them to create a tailor-made, person-centered strategy that creates the safest and most productive path to healing, recovery, resilience, and productivity.
I use CBT strategies to support clients in expanding options and opportunities to consider as they identify their path to healing and growth.
For my clients whose faith is very important to them and who want their therapy to incorporate their faith and spirituality, I specialize in blending CBT and other therapeutic strategies with faith-based perspective and principals. I assist clients with growth, healing and change via a process I developed known as "Destiny Mapping" which is designed to support clients who are serious about moving from ""stuck life" (conditions/situations that keep them stuck in unhealthy/unproductive patterns) to "purposed life".
