New to Grow
My approach is affirming, empowering and deeply respectful. I excel at supporting individuals who struggle with self esteem, emotional disturbances, or insecurities to find their authentic voice and expression, and move from patterns of codependence to acting on their own behalf. I am passionate about helping clients develop the awareness and tools to truly come into their own. I look forward to helping you do this too. Your own choices, your own direction, your own life.
In our first sessions, I balance getting to know you and your history with what is most difficult right now. If you’d like, we can begin with a brief mindfulness practice to help ground and center. From there, we work with the places that are most "stuck." As we gain positive momentum and movement, we work through remaining stuck places.
I have over a decade of experience in experiential and Gestalt therapy, which allows me to combine evidence-based modalities like DBT and ACT with real-time opportunities for new and healing experiences in session.
Ideal clients are clients who are self-aware and motivated, to engage in the therapeutic process. Clients who have started to recognize patterns of behavior and thought that no longer serve them, but don't know how to shift. Client navigating co-dependency and relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem and identity. Adult clients who are independent but suffer from mood or anxiety disorders, Older adults ho are looking for support in retirement and end of life.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I like to use ACT as the overarching modality for conceptualizing client's issues and progress and for formulating effective treatment plans. ACT is a comprehensive, process-based therapy modality that helps clients change negative patterns of belief and behavior in a manageable and sustainable way, and implement replace positive self-reinforcing networks instead.
EMDR
EMDR is a very effective and evidence based protocol which I use for treating trauma, as well as anxiety and phobias.
Experiential Therapy
Experiential therapy uses the therapeutic container of the session to allow for the therapist to facilitate "experiments" or "experiences" for the client that create change in real time by allowing for emotional release, insight, and a re-patterning of neural networks and schemas that keep clients stuck
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior therapy is great for working with clients with intense emotional experiences and mood disturbances, as well as behavioral issues such as suicidality and self-harm. We work together to develop skills in emotion-regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness to support improved functioning and greater well-being
Eclectic
Eclectic treatment methods incorporate wisdom and interventions from a variety of modalities. I integrate somatic therapy, hakomi, mindfulness, in sessions as I see a benefit for the client.
