I would like to introduce myself. I am a therapist with over 20 years of experience working in the counseling field. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Gannon University. My career has spanned diverse clinical settings, giving me a broad perspective on mental health. I have been told by clients that I am easy to talk to and create a safe, trusting space in sessions. I have a small family that I love to spend time with. Personally, I love to be outdoors as much as I can and have many outdoor hobbies. I enjoy working as a mental health therapist; I find the process of exploration and people's growth to be fulfilling.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I ask clients to check in with themselves to express how they have been feeling emotionally. I encourage clients to talk about what is on their minds currently. Mostly because the client is still getting to know me, and I am getting to know them. Clients will be given psychoeducation as needed and informed of how therapy works. I will also work with you on developing treatment goals tailored to your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I feel my greatest strength as a therapist is my insight and listening skills. I assist clients in finding the tools they need to improve their mental health. I assist clients in creating a " toolbox" of skills.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best able to serve clients who are open to change. This means a willingness to examine existing beliefs and try out new behaviors, even when it feels uncomfortable. Clients who are committed to the process of therapy. This involves showing up for sessions regularly and engaging in the emotional work during and between sessions. Clients who are willing to be themselves and share their thoughts in the session.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have helped many clients using CBT in my practice. In your sessions, I will assist you in identifying and challenging reoccurring thoughts that can contribute to increased mental health symptoms such as anxiety and depression. You will grow to learn how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We will then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help reduce the symptoms that interfere with your life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

When working with my clients, I will act as a compassionate facilitator, listening without judgment and acknowledging your unique experience. This process leads to self-discovery, I will remain supportive as you uncover what is difficult and assist you in gaining insight into what is needed to repair it.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I find guiding my clients in using mindfulness practices that include present-moment awareness is beneficial in improving depression and anxiety symptoms. I will assist you in being present in the here and now as well as breaking away from negative thought patterns that can cause a decline into a mood-disordered state

Supportive

The primary objective of supportive therapy is to help you feel steady, capable, and supported in your current life. I use this technique in therapy to build a strong, trusting relationship where you feel respected and understood.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT strategies in my practice as a tool for emotional regulation. Clients will gain an acceptance of who they are and how to change unhelpful behaviors.
