Hi, I am Dr. Michelle Loper. Do you find that you are struggling with participation in life? Are you noticing that your relationships with others are suffering and you are pulling away? Is it hard to keep up with your daily tasks and stay focused at work? Do you struggle to find time to take care of yourself? I hope to help you find ways to manage your day-to-day activities and improve relationships both at home and at work. In working together, we can find ways to get to the root of what is causing your struggles and find alternative ways to lead a healthier life with more useful coping skills and alternative thinking patterns. We will build on the strengths that you already possess. No matter what you are struggling with, there are alternatives to staying stuck. I realize that engagement in therapy can be a frightening process and opening up can make you feel vulnerable. I hope to provide you with compassion and alternatives that will allow you to feel ready to face challenges and heal whatever is causing your life to feel unmanageable. Let's take this step together!
Our first session will be an opportunity to discuss your history and what is currently causing distress. The following sessions will be guided based on the goals that we establish together. It is likely that there will be activities that you are asked to do or practice outside of the sessions that we hold because change happens in your life, not in the one hour we spend together. Therapy can often challenge the ways that you currently do things, it is possible that I will ask you to try things that may feel uncomfortable at first.
Depending on your area of concern we together will determine the therapeutic interventions that will work best. I utilize cognitive-behavioral and strengths-based interventions as well as several trauma-focused interventions.
I have spent a number of years working with military personnel, their families, and veterans. I believe that open and honest communication can be the best way to move towards change in your life. I hope to put you at ease so that you feel able to share your truths.
