In our first session together, we’ll start off with brief introductions and a review of logistics for our work together (review of confidentiality, scheduling. Communication, etc.) and then I will ask you to begin sharing with me what specific challenges/transitions you are facing that brought you to therapy. I will guide our conversation by asking questions to better understand your concerns and level of impact so that I can be as helpful to you as possible. You and I will end the first appointment by identifying goals for you to work towards during our future appointments together.

Relational therapy, sometimes referred to as relational-cultural therapy, is a therapeutic approach based on the idea that mutually satisfying relationships with others are necessary for one’s emotional well-being. This type of psychotherapy takes into account the ways in which social and familial factors relate to the relationships in a person’s life.
CBT is based on several core principles, including: 1. Psychological issues are partly based on problematic or unhelpful patterns of thinking. 2. Psychological issues are partly based on learned patterns of unhelpful behavior. 3. Psychological issues are partly based on problematic core beliefs, including central ideas about yourself and the world. 4. People experiencing psychological issues can learn better ways of coping with them. This can help relieve their symptoms and improve their mental and emotional health.
Supportive psychotherapy is a type of therapy that primarily focuses on providing emotional support, encouragement, and validation during difficult life circumstances or psychological challenges.
