New to Grow
I have worked as a therapist for several decades in my own private practice in Southeastern Pennsylvania. I focused on working with individuals and families of all ages during my tenure as a therapist. My recent Telehealth focus has been working with the military, retired and active duty, and their families, who are facing trauma, loss, transitions, anxiety issues, parenting and marital issues.
The first session is about the client sharing the reasons for initiating therapy, what they hope to achieve, their goals and obtaining a background synopsis of their current and past life experiences and pertinent history that they are comfortable sharing.
My approach is holistic and unique to the individual. I help the client to focus on their specific goals and changes they hope to make and I try to provide them with insight into their "stuck points" which may be interfering with their growth, as defined by them.
I do not believe in an "ideal client", as such. My preference is that the person has the desire to make the changes which they define as their goals. I am no longer seeing children, teens or doing play therapy, during this time of my career path, due to limitations of Telehealth as a platform for therapy. I do well with most men and woman in family life, dealing with everyday issues of stress, trauma, loss, grief, parenting and family challenges, singlehood, divorce and remarriage, blended family, et al.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT can be utilized to assist clients who deal with various types of anxiety issues, self defeating thoughts holding them back, and unrealistic thoughts and "old tapes" creating negative mood states.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
The client defines their own unique goals and as the therapist, I assist and facilitate a variety of ways to meet their goals, based on their own unique experience and view of their life.
