Hi There, I'm Shelly, Are you struggling to find balance, feeling disconnected, or wondering "what's wrong with me?" At some point in our lives each of us face obstacles. We can't always control what life throws at us, but we can control how we react. My primary focus is adults that are experiencing a wide variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, interpersonal issues, substance abuse and addiction. My specialty is an evidence based technique, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness practices.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Through the use of empathy, genuine care, and the use of critical strategies, I will assist you in learning more about yourself and your patterns so you can make changes to create less disruption and more peace within your life. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ I am passionate about working with individuals who identify within this community. My counseling style is warm, nonjudgmental and focused on person centered therapy. I utilize strengths-based perspective and am flexible in my treatment approach and will work with you to individualize your treatment.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Assessments are used to gather information such as history and background so we can set treatment goals. You can expect to develop skills through individualized exercises that will guide you through distressing or challenging situations. You will explore ways to replace negative thought patterns and behaviors with ones that are more helpful and productive.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my biggest strength as a therapist is my ability to build rapport. Together we will begin to establish a foundation of trust and respect. I’m attuned to my clients, pay attention to their verbal and non-verbal communication, and listen without judgment. Willingness to let you be heard, understood. Together creating accountability and guiding you to develop new healthy patterns of behaviors. Learning is continuous; I am always researching and taking additional courses to keep improving my skills to better serve my clients.
