(she/her)
I am a bilingual psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, including seven years providing advanced psychiatric care in acute inpatient settings. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University, where I received specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for the management of anxiety. My professional experience spans work with diverse populations, including a strong background in pediatric psychiatry, and I have recently expanded my practice to include outpatient services. My treatment philosophy is integrative, blending evidence-based psychiatric care with therapeutic approaches that address both the biological and psychological dimensions of mental health. I prioritize cognitive behavioral therapy, culturally sensitive care, and trauma-informed principles to provide holistic and personalized treatment. In my practice, I create a safe and collaborative environment where each client is respected and heard. I believe in honoring cultural background and lived experience, understanding that mental health is shaped by identity, history, and personal values. My approach empowers clients with practical tools, compassionate support, and insight to navigate challenges, manage symptoms, and build resilience. Whether working with children in acute settings or adults in outpatient care, my goal is to provide treatment that is effective, affirming, and transformative — helping clients achieve lasting wellness and a deeper sense of self-understanding.
At your first meeting with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and safe space where your concerns are heard without judgment. I begin by getting to know you and understanding your unique story, including your history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. This initial session is a collaborative process — I’ll ask about your medical history, mental health background, and any previous treatment experiences, as well as your personal and cultural context, so we can build a treatment plan tailored to your needs. I will explain my approach, which integrates psychiatric evaluation with therapeutic strategies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and culturally sensitive practices. Together, we will discuss treatment options that address both the biological and psychological aspects of your mental health. You can expect a conversation that is compassionate, thorough, and designed to empower you with understanding and tools for managing your mental health. By the end of the session, you will have a clear sense of the path forward — including recommendations for medications (if appropriate), therapy strategies, and steps we will take together toward your wellness. My goal is to ensure you feel supported, informed, and confident as we begin your journey to improved mental health.
My strengths as a psychiatric nurse practitioner lie in my ability to combine clinical expertise with a compassionate, client-centered approach. I am supportive, warm, and welcoming, creating a safe space where clients feel understood and respected. I approach care with kindness, humor, and empathy, helping clients feel comfortable and engaged throughout the treatment process. I empower individuals by providing them with knowledge, practical tools, and confidence to navigate their mental health journey. My non-judgmental stance fosters trust and openness, allowing for deeper healing. Above all, my extensive knowledge and experience in psychiatry enable me to deliver care that is both evidence-based and deeply human.
I work with a diverse range of clients across the lifespan, drawing on extensive training and over 20 years of experience in acute mental health settings. My background includes working with pediatric populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, which equips me to confidently support younger children and adolescents as well as adults. I am experienced in treating a wide variety of psychiatric presentations, including complex mood disorders and cases that require nuanced, multifaceted treatment approaches. My practice is especially suited for individuals seeking care for intricate mental health challenges, where personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate treatment is essential for lasting improvement.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I bring a compassionate and holistic approach to psychiatric care, combining my training as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a master’s in Counseling Psychology. This unique blend allows me to address both the medical and emotional aspects of mental health. I use evidence-based treatments alongside cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand and manage anxiety, mood challenges, and other concerns. My approach is collaborative and personalized — I work with each person to create a treatment plan that fits their needs, equips them with practical tools, and supports lasting growth and well-being. My goal is to empower clients to feel more grounded, resilient, and confident in navigating life’s challenges.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I believe mental health care works best when it honors and respects each person’s unique cultural background and lived experience. My approach to culturally sensitive therapy blends empathy, open dialogue, and awareness of cultural influences on mental health. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. Together, we explore how culture, identity, and personal history shape mental well-being, and I tailor treatment to align with each individual’s values and needs. My goal is to provide care that is not only effective but also affirming and empowering.
Trauma Informed Care
My approach to trauma-informed care is grounded in compassion, safety, and respect for each client’s lived experience. I recognize that trauma can deeply impact mental health, relationships, and daily functioning, and I strive to create a space where clients feel understood and supported. By integrating trauma-informed principles into my practice, I work to ensure that care is empowering, collaborative, and free from retraumatization. Together, we focus on building trust, fostering resilience, and developing strategies that support healing and long-term well-being. My goal is to help clients feel safe, heard, and equipped to move forward with strength and confidence.

I was super nervous going in, but she made me feel welcome and also made me feel some positivity towards the situation. I’ve had bad luck in the past not only with the meds themselves, but with getting an appointment to stay on them, and let’s just say stopping those medication was a terrible idea and my body filed several complaints haha and the doctors generally knew this just didn't care. But After one session, she already made me feel hopeful and confident about getting back my life! 😺💯👏
