(she/her)
I received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida and have 10 + years’ experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Most of my experience is dealing with women’s issues and how voice is found in a paternalistic society. I use a Family Systems lens as we bring our family with us even when we come as individuals. In my work with clients, I create a space of openness and acceptance as to what is present in the client’s life. I believe that clients have an innate ability to create healing for themselves, and I shepherd that process. I use a Mindfulness-Based Awareness practice and a participatory approach - to create solutions. As a client commits themselves to the process, they can expect increased awareness and see themselves and their issues more clearly. This awareness oftentimes brings with it a heightened ability to solve issues that are creating roadblocks.
In the very first consultation, we'll decide together if we are a "fit." and to get to know each other at a deeper level. I'll ask questions based on the information you sent to learn more about you. You are free to ask questions to learn more about me. Before the session ends we'll talk about goals that you want to meet, and how I might help you do that. We'll decide how often we want to meet, what happens in between sessions, and set our next appointment.
I am a grounded, centered person and meet my clients from that place. Not much of anything surprises me. I have lived a lot of life and seen or heard most everything else. I also have a deep sense of compassion for others as I believe we each do the best we with the resources we have. Further, we can create change if we can discover other resources - both from outside us and from within ourselves.
Helping people through life challenges and the transitions that are there for all of us is an area that I serve well. Oftentimes those challenges and transitions bring grief, , anger, fear, anxiety or depression - to name a few. My education, training, life experience, and commitment to my own growth allow me to help clients navigate these issues - lean into what is, accept what is and move to what can be.
