Hey y’all, are you ready to break free from stress, anxiety, hopelessness, or self-doubt and create a life aligned with your true potential? I’m Nikki Layne, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with over 9 years of experience guiding individuals through life’s toughest challenges. I was born and raised in a rural town in Eastern Kentucky. I know how isolating it can feel to be unsure of who to turn to or how to move forward. That’s why I’m committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental space where you can truly be yourself, explore your feelings, and discover your strengths. My personal experiences inspired me to open my private practice, Counseling in the Holler, LLC; having navigated challenges myself, I wanted to create a space where others could find support, healing, and understanding in a compassionate, inclusive environment. So whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, self-identity struggles, addiction, or LGBTQI+ issues, I’m here to help you break free from what’s holding you back and create the life you deserve.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Choosing me as your counselor means stepping into a space where you are truly heard and supported. In our first session, we'll take a little extra time to get to know each other. I'll gather some background and health information, walk you through how the counseling process works, and take care of any necessary paperwork. This session is all about understanding your needs and setting the stage for your personal goals. After that, our sessions will typically last 53-60 minutes. During this time, we'll focus on the issues you want to explore and work together towards making meaningful progress. I'll be there every step of the way, offering tools and strategies to help you grow. I'm dedicated to creating an open and safe environment where you can freely share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Your journey is important to me, and I’m here to support you in every way I can.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a counselor, I bring a wealth of strengths that can support your journey. My open-minded approach ensures that I meet you where you are, without judgment, and with genuine curiosity about your unique experiences. Empathy is at the heart of my practice, allowing me to connect with you on a deep level while trying to truly understand your concerns. I am deeply passionate about mental health and dedicated to helping you overcome challenges, especially those similar to what I have faced myself. Having grown up in a rural environment with limited resources, I understand the obstacles and adversities that can arise, and I am committed to guiding you through them. My personal experiences fuel my dedication to supporting others, making me a compassionate and understanding ally on your path to growth and healing.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My desire to become a counselor comes from my personal journey with internal struggles of self-identity, anxiety, and depression in a resource-limited rural community. I am passionate about empowering individuals from all backgrounds. I am particularly dedicated to helping those within the LGBTQI+ community overcome obstacles and thrive in their unique circumstances. As an advocate and proud member of the LGBTQI+ community, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals in navigating life's struggles with confidence, building self-esteem, and developing sustainable coping strategies. My professional experience spans from inpatient rehab settings, schools, and beyond, allowing me to work effectively with individuals facing both mental health and substance use challenges.
