Mieasha Edmonds is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 13 years of experience. She has worked with adolescents, the elderly, and adults who struggle with addiction, grief, loss, anxiety, trauma, depression, substance use, psychosis, and life stressors. Mieasha is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. She believes that everyone deserves to be loved and understood. She is passionate about helping others heal. Mieasha completed her Master's degree in Counseling at the Houston Graduate School of Theology. She also holds a Master of Divinity. Her experience in ministry, another helping field, has given her the skillset to help others navigate difficulties in life while providing encouragement and guidance. Her therapeutic approach is more integrative, consisting of person-centered therapy (PCT), solutions-focused therapy (SFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and strengths-based therapy (SBT).
Please allow this first session to be an opportunity to get to know each other. Mieasha will get a better understanding of what brings you to therapy. You will get to test if she is a good fit for you. You can expect a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Mieasha will listen and provide honest feedback when desired.
Mieasha's array of experience has been conducive to her being non-judgmental. She is known to be personable and welcoming.
Talking to a stranger can be a bit unnerving and most of us are opposed to the idea of sharing our most intimate thoughts. However, Mieasha will honor the space by being transparent, supportive, and honest. She will work to help teach you the skills you need to cope and challenge faulty thinking.
I've been utilizing CBT to help clients challenge and replace distorted thinking that is caused by anxiety and depression.
I've used DBT to help clients learn and develop more adaptive behaviors.
Interpersonal approach is used to help individuals improve how they engage in relationships currently and how that is impacting their day to day.
Person- centered approach is my fave. It helps to create nonjudgmental environment which allows for clients to experience honest self-exploration.

First session! She had a very friendly approach to get to know me. It felt like chatting with a friend! She provided a lot of relatable background information about herself, as well as experiences, which made the environment very comfortable. I'm excited for future sessions!
