As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in both North Carolina and Arizona, and holding a Doctorate in Traumatology, I am dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate the challenges of trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and more. My work is guided by the belief that healing is possible and that no one should have to walk this path alone. I provide a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, rediscover their strengths, and create meaningful change. I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based treatments. By tailoring therapy to meet each client’s unique needs, I help individuals gain clarity, develop coping skills, and move toward a life that feels empowered and authentic. Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and grounded. I bring patience, empathy, and curiosity into my sessions, while also providing gentle challenges that encourage growth and deeper self-awareness. I value authenticity and strive to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and compassion. Beyond my clinical expertise, I am passionate about walking alongside clients in ways that honor their stories and identities. I deeply admire the resilience of those I work with and consider it a privilege to witness their courage and progress. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for change, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work toward healing, resilience, and connection. My goal is to not only help reduce distress but also to empower you to create a fulfilling life aligned with your values.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my goal is to create a safe and welcoming space where you can begin sharing your story at your own pace. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and any concerns you may have. I’ll ask gentle questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, and challenges, while also explaining how I work and what you can expect moving forward. Together, we’ll begin to set goals that feel meaningful and manageable. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, supported, and hopeful as we start this journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. I bring warmth, empathy, and genuine compassion into each session, meeting you exactly where you are. My background in trauma work and training in evidence-based approaches like EMDR, CBT, ACT, and DBT allow me to adapt therapy to your unique needs. Clients often describe me as calm, approachable, and encouraging. I believe healing is possible for everyone, and my strength lies in walking alongside you with care and consistency as you rediscover your resilience and create meaningful change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone impacted by trauma struggling with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or difficulties in relationships - often feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in painful patterns. They may have experienced childhood adversity, attachment wounds, or significant life transitions and are seeking a safe space to heal and make sense of their experiences. My clients want to feel more control, develop self-trust, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Their goals often include processing the past, gaining emotional clarity, and building a grounded, empowered sense of self.

Amanda is very sincere and so very intelligent. I felt that she was open to just listening and hearing everything, she can follow along with my scattered brain and mind and somehow follow along to address everything I'm feeling and sharing. She offers materials that I can read outside of the session that help immensely with addressing certain issues, and she does amazing and following up on details. The biggest thing is the trust and connection I feel sharing details with her.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use EMDR to help clients reprocess distressing memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity and allows for healthier perspectives. This approach can decrease symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression by targeting the underlying memories and beliefs that fuel emotional distress. Through a structured, supportive process, clients build new connections to those experiences, fostering resilience, self-compassion, and a greater sense of emotional balance.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I integrate DBT to help clients build skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. I support clients in finding balance between acceptance and change while navigating life's challenges. DBT offers practical tools that empower clients to respond to difficult emotions with greater awareness and intention.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I used CBT to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that impact emotions and behaviors. Together, we explore how beliefs and thinking styles influence daily experiences and relationships. CBT offers practical strategies for building insight, coping skills, and lasting change.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I use CPT to support clients in understanding how trauma has shaped their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world. Together, we identify stuck points - thoughts that keep clients feeling trapped in distress. CPT helps clients challenge and reframe these thoughts to promote healing, self-compassion, and a renewed sense of safety.

Attachment-based

I use attachment-based therapy to help clients explore how early relational experiences shape their current patterns of connection, trust, and self-worth. In sessions, I focus on creating a secure therapeutic relationship where clients can safely practice new ways of relating. I incorporate somatic exercises such as grounding, breathwork, and gentle body awareness to help clients tune into physical sensations tied to attachment wounds. These practices support clients in regulating their nervous systems while building healthier, more secure patterns of connection in relationships.
