Hello Colorado adults and couples seeking growth and change through the therapeutic process! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Addictions Specialist with decades of experience in the field, all here in Colorado. I knew by age 16 - when I noticed peers and family openly sharing their pain and feelings with me, then took my first psychology class in high school- that I was meant for this work. My professional journey began in 1994 after receiving my BA in psychology. I worked in residential child care facility, suicide hotline, community mental health, substance use treatment/dual diagnosis, and inpatient at Boulder Community hospital. I was licensed as an Addictions Counselor in the late 90's. I earned my Master of Social Work from University of Denver in the early 2000's. It was during this time I had a profound experience with grief and loss and decided to focus my clinical studies and practice in this area. After getting married and having a baby boy, became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker and spent the next 24 years working in the child welfare system, primarily in clinical support. It was through this work that I became versed in trauma, attachment, strength-based work and resiliency. I retired in January 2026 from Denver County child welfare to grow my psychotherapy practice and, of the many hats I wore, this is far and away my favorite. My passion is psychotherapy with adults and couples. I support my clients through a trauma-informed lens. I tailor my treatment approach to each client's individual needs. I am warm, supportive, open-minded, non-judgmental. I consider it a privilege to partner with my clients in their healing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session, expect an openness. Your voice is the important one in the room. I will guide you to talk through what is most important to you, so we can set an agenda and develop the outline of your treatment plan based on your concerns and priorities. I will make sure you are heard and every concern is addressed. You will tell me how I can best help you- what your preferred communication style is, what your expectations are for therapy, and you will be invited to ask any questions you like and share feedback so this is a comfortable and helpful experience for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients often seek me out as a Gen X therapist with decades of professional and life experience. Mindfulness and humor are often employed to keep us balanced and present. I also am a music lover and tend to recommend music or share lyrics I think will resonate with my clients. I typically use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Humanistic, Strength-Based, Solution-Focused and Motivational Interviewing, depending on the client's needs. In my work with couples, I lean heavily into Gottman methods- building love maps, teaching and practicing effective communication, increasing connection and building on the couple's strengths for sustainable growth and change. I have many years of experience and training, and have a unique understanding of the intersection of trauma, mental health and substance use issues. I am ethical and evidence-based in all my work. I am easy to talk to. I have a comprehensive understanding of abuse, attachment and trauma, and a unique perspective and approach to integrating trauma into our human experience in helpful ways that strengthen and enlighten. We can create meaning and derive strength, purpose and beauty from adversity. You are not broken. You are not damaged. You have just been surviving life's greatest challenges. Together, let's work to release the trauma and live your best life.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

MI is an effective, evidence based modality that allows the client to reach their own conclusions about what they want and how to get there. It is often employed in substance use counseling, and is an effective tool for many other areas of desired growth and change.

Trauma Informed Care

As a 24-year veteran working in child welfare, trauma-informed practice is a hallmark of my practice daily. Trauma is stored in the body at a cellular level. It doesn't have to break or damage you, but it's important to work with clients through the lens of and with sensitivity to their trauma histories.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Breathe. Ground yourself. Observe your thoughts and feelings as they come and go. Learn to stay in the present moment and harness your body and mind connection. Learn to let go of that which you have no control. It's important to employ mindfulness, self care and intentionality in our daily life and our work together.

Psychodynamic

It's critical to identify early childhood experiences that shape our interactions, attachment styles and relationships throughout adulthood. Examine transgenerational and learned familial patterns on repeat that may be maladaptive now. Perhaps they once served to protect you and became stuck.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We all hold core beliefs about ourselves, others and life. Some may be grounded in objective reality. Others may be holding us back or poisoning our present. It's critical to examine our thinking patterns and learn how to change some of them so we can get out of our own way.

If you’re looking for a couples therapist who is equal parts brilliant, grounded, and magically capable of understanding two people speaking completely different emotional languages, look no further. She’s the real deal. She took the time to get to know us, not just the “couple‑in‑crisis” version of us, which was refreshing and honestly kind of impressive. She listens with genuine care, offers insight that actually lands, and somehow keeps things light even when the topics aren’t.

We just finished a couples counseling session, and I can’t say enough about how wonderful she was. She’s incredibly smart, down to earth, and has a way of making you feel truly seen. She took the time to get to know us, not just our challenges, but our strengths too. She also created a space where we both felt comfortable opening up. It’s rare to find someone who listens with such genuine care and insight. We walked away feeling understood, supported, and hopeful.
