Struggling with feelings of anxiety, fear, guilt, and shame can keep you from accomplishing goals that are meaningful to you. I incorporate honesty, direct communication, and compassion into my approach to encourage individuals to be an agent of change within there own lives and align themselves with what they truly value. My experience includes but isn't limited to addressing anxiety and phobias, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, and body image concerns. I am a firm believer that there is no one size fits all approach to therapy so I utilize a conversational approach, drawing from various therapeutic approaches to aid my clients in reaching their goals.
My primary focus for the initial session is building rapport with my client, gathering information about what challenges they are currently facing, and working together to identify their specific goals for therapy.
I believe that my greatest strength as a provider is that I am always opened to feedback from my clients as I believe that I can learn from my clients just as they can learn from me.
I enjoy working with clients that may be experiencing feelings of anxiety or depression due to life transitions or who may be struggling in their relationship with food and their body. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality.
Due to it's demonstrated effectiveness in treating a multitude of mental health issues CBT has been a significant part of my therapeutic approach. I utilize CBT to help my clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors all interact with one another and develop skills to change negative patterns of thinking and maladaptive behaviors.
