My goal is to develop a collaborative partnership where I can work with you to better understand your experiences. Using a warm yet direct approach to counseling. I strive to create a non-judgmental environment where your concerns can be explored and processed. I want to help you create insight, identify strengths, and develop effective practical skills to overcome the challenges that you face. I specialize in career counseling which includes executive and business coaching, career transitions/promotions, stress and time management skills, and interpersonal workplace issues. I also have significant experience addressing relationship issues, communication problems, anger management, conflict resolution, anxiety, and mood disorders such as depression.
In our first session, we start with brief introductions, a review of the reason(s) for seeking therapy, a brief exploration into your background, and some of the goals which you have for treatment. I will also answer any questions which you have about the therapy process and work with you to make the first session a comfortable one.
My greatest strengths as a therapist come from a diversity of life experiences which has given me the opportunity to better understand specific cultures and populations. I can use these experiences to better tailor my approaches for those I work with, thus increasing more effective outcomes. I focus on several specific issues which also affords me the opportunity to specialize in treatment approaches in those specific areas. Along with professional clinical trainings. I have also attended leadership trainings, communication and negotiation skills trainings, completed courses in organizational behavior, and process improvements. These specific skills can be particularly helpful when working with individuals who are experiencing work-related stressors and interpersonal conflicts.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy with all of the clients that I work with.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients to increase acceptance of current circumstances, develop mindfulness practices, and explore strategies for change to increase psychological flexibility.
I use a strengths based approach to help clients identify their strengths and empower them towards change.
