Laleh Soomekh

LCSW (she/her)10 years of experience

I’m a licensed clinical social worker with nine years of experience in hospice, helping people and their loved ones navigate serious and terminal illness, grief, and end-of-life concerns. That experience shaped the therapist I am today and deepened my understanding of loss, relationships, resilience, and the uncertainty that is part of life. I’m naturally warm, curious, and straightforward. I value genuine connection and bring a little humor to our conversations when it feels right. I now bring that experience and perspective to my work with adults facing a wide range of concerns, from major life transitions to the challenges of everyday life.

First session

Our first session is a chance for me to understand what brings you to therapy and what feels most important right now. You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. I’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and help guide the conversation as we begin making sense of what you’re facing. My hope is that you leave feeling understood, a little less alone with what you’re carrying, and with a clearer sense of how we can move forward together.

Strengths

I bring warmth, calm, and perspective, shaped by years of supporting people through difficult moments, as well as my own experiences with loss and life transitions. I understand that grief and change can be deeply personal and rarely follow a predictable path. I’m an active and engaged therapist who will listen closely, offer perspective, and gently challenge you when it can help you find clarity and move forward.

Ideal clients

You may be grieving a loss, caring for someone you love, facing a serious illness, or struggling with changes in your life that you never expected. You may feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or unsure how to move forward. Perhaps you’re looking for a place where you can talk openly about what you’re experiencing, better understand what you’re feeling, and find ways to navigate the challenges you’re facing.

Treatment methods

Integrative

I use an integrative approach with clients because different people—and different moments in life—call for different kinds of support. The focus may center on where you find yourself in life, on exploring significant events and relationships that continue to influence you, or may shift between the two as the process evolves. In our sessions, I can help you navigate through what you’re facing, consider where change may be important to you, recognize the strengths and resources you already possess while cultivating new ones, and find your way through grief, loss, end-of-life concerns, or other challenging periods in your life. I see therapy as both supportive and engaged. I pay close attention to what you share and to the connections and themes I notice along the way. I offer perspective and help you explore areas that may take some courage to look at, while respecting your pace and what you are ready to take on. My goal is to help you find solid ground when life feels unsettled, see possibilities where things may have felt fixed, and make choices with a clearer sense of what is right for you.
