In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together as your Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), we will begin the important journey toward your optimal well-being. This initial meeting is a key moment where we’ll establish the foundation of our therapeutic relationship and start to understand your unique needs and goals. Above all, it’s a chance for us to assess if we’re a good fit for working together. I prioritize creating a welcoming and supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood. We’ll begin by discussing the reasons you’re seeking help and exploring any challenges or concerns you're facing. This is your opportunity to share your story, express what brought you here, and outline what you hope to achieve. During the session, I will conduct a comprehensive assessment to better understand your mental health history, current symptoms, and any factors affecting your well-being. Through thoughtful questions and active listening, I aim to develop a well-rounded view of your strengths, challenges, and aspirations. Together, we will collaborate on creating a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your specific needs and goals. This may involve discussing therapeutic options, medication management (if appropriate), and practical coping strategies that can improve your overall quality of life. Throughout our work together, my approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and a genuine commitment to supporting you. My goal is for you to feel validated, empowered, and hopeful as we begin taking the first steps toward positive change. Your well-being is my top priority, and I am dedicated to partnering with you every step of the way to help you achieve your goals and live your best life.

She asked me why I had switched providers, and I told her about the bad judgment of the previous provider. She agreed with me. Then when I asked if she could prescribe me medication, she told me to go back to that bad previous provider. I don't understand what she was thinking.
