Ekaete Okon
Hello, I’m Ekaete Okon, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Through Grow Therapy, I provide compassionate telehealth psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and related concerns. My collaborative, culturally responsive approach centers each patient’s needs, values, experiences, and goals while promoting understanding, comfort, and active participation throughout treatment and ongoing psychiatric care.
First session
During your first session, we will review your current concerns, mental health and medical history, previous treatments, medications, lifestyle, and personal goals. I will take time to understand how your symptoms are affecting your daily life and answer any questions you may have. Together, we will discuss possible diagnoses and treatment options, which may include medication management, therapy recommendations, laboratory testing, or coordination with other healthcare providers. My goal is for you to leave the session feeling heard, supported, and clear about the next steps in your care.
Strengths
My approach combines clinical expertise with warmth, empathy, and respect. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work collaboratively with each client to understand the full picture—not just the symptoms. What sets my approach apart is my commitment to personalized, culturally responsive care. I consider your medical history, life experiences, values, concerns, and treatment goals when developing a plan. I also prioritize clear education and shared decision-making, so you understand your options and feel confident participating in your care.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood changes, or difficulty managing daily responsibilities. They may feel overwhelmed, discouraged, uncertain about medication, or ready for a fresh approach. I work best with clients who value open communication, want to understand their treatment options, and are motivated to build greater stability, confidence, and emotional well-being through collaborative, personalized care.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT-informed strategies to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, understand how thoughts influence emotions and behaviors, and develop healthier coping responses. During sessions, we may explore triggers, challenge negative beliefs, practice problem-solving, and set realistic behavioral goals. I also encourage clients to apply these skills between appointments so they can build confidence, improve emotional regulation, and manage symptoms more effectively in daily life.
