Hi, I’m Stephen Russell, LCSW. I’m a trauma-informed therapist who values authenticity, empathy, and practical support. As a clinician, I offer a grounded, compassionate presence and a practical, collaborative approach. I meet people where they are, honoring their lived experience while helping them find clarity, connection, and growth. My goal is to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen and supported as they move toward meaningful change of their choosing.
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and anything you think is important I understand. There’s no pressure to share everything right away—we’ll move at your pace. This process is fluid; sometimes what we think we need shifts as we grow, and that’s okay.
My greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to meet clients where they are—with compassion, honesty, and flexibility. I bring a humanistic approach to the work, which means I see you as a whole person, not a problem to fix. I’m transparent in the process, and if we need to shift gears along the way, we’ll do that. You’re the boss applesauce.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like parts of your story haven’t been fully understood, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I work best with people who are ready to look a little deeper, whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, identity questions, or relationship struggles.
I approach therapy by engaging clients as whole human beings, not just a set of symptoms or challenges. Grounded in empathy, respect, and authenticity, I aim to create a space where people feel safe to be themselves and explore what matters most to them.
I help clients develop a more kind and understanding relationship with themselves, especially when they struggle with shame, self-criticism, or painful past experiences. Together, we build tools for emotional regulation and self-compassion to support healing and resilience.
I support clients in exploring and reshaping the stories they tell about themselves. By identifying dominant narratives and uncovering overlooked strengths, we work together to build more empowering and authentic self-understandings.
I use EMDR to help clients process and heal from distressing memories and trauma. By targeting the root of emotional and physiological responses, EMDR supports meaningful shifts in how clients experience themselves and the world.
I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate challenges with compassion and clarity. My approach supports each person in feeling heard while working together toward shared goals and a stronger connection.
