Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is a vibe check and a history gathering session. I get to learn what you want to change about yourself or in your life, and you get to see how you feel talking with me.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Put simply, I’m a therapist but I have also been a collegiate athlete, and have coached sports for 20 years. I’ve endured through and learned from challenges that allow me to not just speak academically or clinically about the challenges you bring to session, but to also infuse insight and lessons I’ve learned through my own personal growth and healing. I often find that clients work well with my pairing of curiosity and humor, and feel safe in knowing that no problem is too big or too small to bring in to session with me.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to be curious and take charge to create change in themselves and their life. A mind willing to look critically, and a heart willing to learn to deeply feel the emotions in both themselves and their relationships. I work well with parents, and athletes, as well as those going through major life transitions that they want help unraveling and understanding.

My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

As someone who’s been a coach for two decades, I’ve spent years playing translator between children and their parents, be they young children or adult children. Helping to find common language and better understanding shared experiences has been wildly beneficial.

EMDR

If ya know, ya know. Trauma work to begin untangling the negative thoughts and feelings from the past and the present.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

This one really focuses on “what can we change and how will it help?” Truly beginning to find ways to take action to better the life of the client.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In more challenging cases, or those that get really “stuck” in their heads, I use elements of DBT to start creating the ability to hold nuanced ideas and concepts more readily and improve critical thinking while reducing the negative impact of big emotions.
