I am an LICSW and I work with adults who are seeking an improved quality of life. I am judgment free and very open-minded, and I believe strongly in human capacity for change. My main goal is your progress, and I may challenge you a bit along the way but I will always treat you with warmth and compassion and I will always be honest and transparent with you. My approach is geared toward an individual's personal motivation, whether they are beginning to contemplate change, they are open to learning new coping strategies, or they are ready to understand and shift patterns of behavior that are no longer serving them in a positive way. We will work together to explore what approach(es) are effective for you and your personality. I try to use humor at times to bring some levity to the process of uncovering feelings and self discovery in a way that feels comfortable and approachable to you.
Taking the first step is the biggest challenge, and you've already been brave enough to get this far. When you choose to take the next step, I would love to help support you. Our first session will be an opportunity for you to tell me what you are comfortable sharing about yourself, your reason behind seeking therapy and any goals you have for yourself. From there, we will collaborate on creating therapy goals and we can begin exploring approaches that may resonate with you and your current struggles. Your input is important and we will continue to make adjustments and use our sessions in a way that feels effective for you.
I have experience working in a variety of settings, from homecare to healthcare. My experiences in in both of these settings make me uniquely experienced with older adults and their caregivers, whether the caregiver is a family member or professional provider. I enjoy working with adults and helping them adapt to change and overcome barriers in their life.
I will individualize a treatment plan for you when we meet, and we may try different approaches until we find one that you connect with. I typically help you explore some combination of solution-focused therapy, strength based therapy, and/or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I find that focusing on your strengths & resourcefulness, looking forward toward short-term solutions, and breaking down overwhelming tasks & feeling into smaller more manageable parts can be incredibly helpful coping skills .
