Hello, my name is Dr. Brittany Collins, though many know me simply as Dr. B. With over 13 years of experience in the mental health field, I am dedicated to helping individuals, families, and groups achieve their best selves. I provide psycho-education and counseling on a wide range of topics to empower and educate my clients. My approach is non-judgmental and person-centered, integrating techniques from various research-based theories, including Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Moral Reconation Therapy, and the Nurturing Parenting method. Additionally, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop psychological flexibility and live meaningful lives aligned with their values. I specialize in creating a safe and trusting environment for culturally diverse clients, offering empathetic and supportive care. My flexibility and creativity allow me to respond effectively to the evolving needs of my clients. I am also a professional mediator, skilled in alternative dispute resolution techniques. My areas of expertise include building healthy relationships, managing depression and anxiety, parenting issues, grief, faith concerns, adjustment issues, daily life stressors, disruptive behavior, mood adjustment disorders, anger, conflict, and self-esteem challenges. Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your journey toward well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect to meet a compassionate person who deeply values the client-therapist relationship. I like to think of myself as a passenger in your favorite car, accompanying you on your journey. We'll start by reviewing your intake forms together to ensure you understand everything and feel comfortable. My primary goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for you, acknowledging that this ride to well-being can sometimes be bumpy. I'll be here to support and guide you every step of the way.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strengths are building rapport, listening to understand, empowering clients, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space for growth. In our sessions, I strive to develop a strong connection with you, ensuring you feel heard and valued. My approach is centered around truly understanding your unique experiences and perspectives, and I aim to empower you to take charge of your mental health journey. By fostering an environment of trust and support, I help you navigate challenges and work towards achieving your goals.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. My experience with ACT involves guiding individuals to develop psychological flexibility through mindfulness and value-based actions. I employ ACT techniques such as cognitive defusion, acceptance, and values clarification to help clients live more meaningful lives despite the challenges they face. By focusing on the present moment and aligning their behaviors with their values, clients learn to navigate life's difficulties with greater resilience and purpose.
