I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I work from a psychotherapeutic perspective grounded in humanistic and modern psychoanalytic practice. I work with individuals to explore their current suffering, symptoms, problems, and relationships and how these themes are related to earlier patterns of experience. My focus is on gaining a deep understanding of the individuals I work with that pays great respect to the person’s unique personality style, cultural differences, differences in sexual orientation and gender experience, and unique relationship patterns. I adapt my focus to best fit the needs of each person as it relates to these differences of experience. This is to best facilitate the development of insight into how past experiences affect current life situations, thereby opening up the possibility for different emotional, creative, and relational experiences.
Clients will have a better understanding of my therapeutic style, as well as what will be necessary for therapy to be optimally helpful. As the relationship progresses, clients will develop new ways of understanding the world, which will lead to changes in relationships, self-esteem, and personality patterns.
I work primarily from a humanistic and psychodynamic framework, which focuses on helping each person develop an understanding of how past experiences inform current suffering and symptoms. I also incorporate tools from CBT and DBT to help a person manage their depression, anxiety, obsessions etc. I also provide a focus on the here-and-now relationship between client and therapist which can help illuminate interpersonal patterns that may be in operation outside of therapy.
I work well with clients with depression, anxiety, and obsessions, as well as those with longstanding trauma, relationship difficulties, and people who want to understand themselves more fully and deeply.
