Tisha Langley

LMFT25 years of experience

If you're used to holding it all together, for your family, your work, or everyone around you, therapy can be the one place you don't have to. I'm Tisha, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 25 years of experience working with adults through some of life's most complex and deeply personal seasons. My clinical background includes work in complex, high-acuity settings, and I also bring experience in executive leadership, giving me a unique understanding of what it means to carry significant responsibility while navigating the very human challenges that happen behind the scenes. My style is warm, direct, practical, grounded and occasionally funny. Therapy with me is a real conversation, and clients often appreciate that I'm genuine, engaged and easy to talk to. You don't need to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. I want therapy to be a place where you can speak honestly, feel understood and have a steady partner in your corner.

First session

Our first session will feel more like a real conversation than an intake interrogation. We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what's been weighing on you, what you've already tried and what you'd like to be different. You don't need to tell me your entire life story in one sitting or arrive knowing exactly what your goals are. Just as importantly, the first session is an opportunity for you to get to know me. Finding the right therapist is personal, and I believe you should have the chance to ask questions, get a sense of who I am and how I work, and decide whether you feel comfortable talking with me. In that sense, you're interviewing me, too. Therapy works best when there is a genuine sense of connection and fit, and I don't assume that I'm going to be the right therapist for everyone. I'll ask questions to better understand you and what you're experiencing, but there will be plenty of room for your questions as well. By the end of our first session, my hope is that you feel genuinely heard, can exhale a little and have a clearer sense of where we might go from here. And, just as importantly, whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect genuinely with people and create an environment where they feel comfortable being honest about what's really going on. I'm naturally curious, open-minded and nonjudgmental, and I believe understanding someone means looking beyond a diagnosis or set of symptoms to the experiences, relationships and circumstances that have shaped who they are. I also tend to see both the details and the bigger picture. I'm good at recognizing patterns, connecting the dots and helping people make sense of situations that may feel confusing or overwhelming. I'm warm and compassionate, but I'm also direct. I'll listen closely and ask thoughtful questions, but I'll also offer feedback, share observations and respectfully challenge you when I think it may help. I'm comfortable with complexity and don't expect people or their lives to fit neatly into boxes. I bring empathy, clinical judgment, perspective, practicality and humor when it fits, and I'm genuinely invested in understanding the person sitting across from me.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and want therapy to be an active, collaborative process. You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or depression, carrying grief or the effects of trauma, recovering from burnout, struggling with relationship or family patterns, exploring questions of identity, or trying to find your footing during a major life transition. Whatever brings you to therapy, you may be looking not only for relief, but for a better understanding of yourself and meaningful change in the areas of your life that aren't working the way you'd like. You may also be someone who appears capable and successful on the outside but feels overwhelmed, uncertain or exhausted behind the scenes. I particularly understand the pressures faced by professionals and leaders who carry significant responsibility and are accustomed to being the person others rely on. You don't need to arrive with perfectly defined goals or even know exactly what's wrong. What matters is a willingness to be curious, honest and open to looking at what's happening in your life. If you're looking for a therapist who will genuinely engage with you, offer perspective and work alongside you rather than simply sit back and nod, we'll probably work well together.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions and behaviors, and how those patterns may be affecting your life. Together, we'll identify ways of thinking or responding that may no longer be serving you and explore different ways to approach them. This isn't about simply "thinking positively" or being handed worksheets. We'll use what we learn to develop practical strategies, try new approaches and make changes that feel realistic and meaningful in your everyday life.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

Sometimes you don't need to understand every detail of how a problem developed before you can begin making things better. I use a solution-focused approach to help you identify what's already working, what you want to be different and what realistic steps might move you in that direction. We'll build on your strengths and past successes while focusing on changes that are practical and meaningful in your life.

Narrative

We all develop stories about ourselves based on our experiences, relationships and the messages we've received along the way. Sometimes those stories can become limiting or make it difficult to see ourselves differently. I'll help you explore the meaning you've made of your experiences, question beliefs that may no longer fit and recognize strengths, possibilities and parts of yourself that may have gotten lost along the way.

Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma can affect how you see yourself, relate to others and respond to situations long after the experience itself has passed. I approach this work with an understanding that your reactions often developed for a reason. Rather than asking "What's wrong with you?" we'll explore what happened, how it has affected you and what you need now to feel safer, more in control and better able to move forward, at a pace that feels manageable to you.
