My expertise is working with adolescents while having a thorough understanding of the school system.
Providing counseling in a school setting helped me to learn not only the needs of school students, but the needs of students in the community.
First session
My goal is always to meet you where you are most comfortable by providing a low pressure setting and go at your pace.
Strengths
I truly love working with adolescents and my passion shows in the progress they make in counseling.
Ideal clients
My expertise is mainly in serving children in adolescence. I have experience providing therapy to middle school students in the school setting. My approach is warm and comforting, providing a safe space to open up about issues in a nonjudgmental environment. I often try to use humor with my clients to settle any nerves and level out the power dynamics.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I primarily have experience working with middle school students in a school setting. CBT was used mostly to help reframe thinking process and relating it to our emotions and behavior. Adolescents experience a high variety of emotions and often need help managing their feelings and ongoing stressors.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness allows our brain to accept and manage symptoms of depression and anxiety. I use this approach along with CBT.
Positive Psychology
Along with CBT and mindfulness strategies, it’s important to find strengths and purpose. This is especially essential in working with adolescents as they are just starting to find themselves and build confidence.
