Welcome! My name is Kemisha Joseph a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I got my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Health Administration at Florida Atlantic University and proceeded to receive my Master's degree at the University of Central Florida in Marriage, Couples, and Family counseling. I believe our greatest purpose in life is learning how to love ourselves and learning how to love others. My mission is helping others to rediscover who they are and teach them to be secure so that they can be secure in the relationships they have with others. I made it my mission to provide treatment for couples counseling and individual counseling for those with relational issues, relational and childhood trauma, family discord, anxiety, stress, and low-self esteem. I even offer friendship counseling and an amazing support group for black women seeking connection.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial counseling session, my primary objective is to establish a foundation of trust and understanding. I create a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions. We begin by discussing your reasons for seeking counseling, exploring your goals, and any specific concerns or challenges you may be facing. I'll provide you with an overview of the counseling process, explaining the confidentiality of our sessions and answering any questions you may have. This initial conversation helps me to gain a comprehensive understanding of your background, personal history, and current circumstances, enabling me to tailor our future sessions to your unique needs. Together, we collaborate on setting realistic and achievable goals for our work together. I encourage open communication, assuring you that your thoughts and feelings are valid and respected. Throughout the session, my aim is to build a therapeutic alliance that fosters a sense of safety and support, laying the groundwork for a productive and transformative counseling journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a counselor, my strengths lie in a multifaceted approach that blends compassion, support, assertiveness, and constructive confrontation. My compassion forms the bedrock of our therapeutic relationship, creating a safe space for you to express your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I am genuinely invested in understanding your experiences and fostering an environment where vulnerability is met with empathy. My supportive nature ensures that you feel heard and validated, providing encouragement as we navigate through the challenges you may be facing. I strive to empower you by acknowledging your strengths and facilitating a collaborative exploration of solutions. Assertiveness is a key component of my counseling style, as I guide our sessions with clarity and purpose. I am proactive in addressing issues and helping you set and work towards meaningful goals. This assertive stance is rooted in a commitment to your growth and well-being. Additionally, I am comfortable with constructive confrontation, recognizing its value in promoting self-awareness and facilitating positive change. In a respectful and therapeutic manner, I gently challenge unhelpful patterns or beliefs, fostering insight and encouraging personal development.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal clients are individuals and couples navigating the complexities of relationships, grappling with issues ranging from relationship problems and trauma to stress and anxiety. I am particularly passionate about working with those seeking to cultivate a sense of security within themselves. Whether it's overcoming relationship challenges or delving into the intricacies of mental health and faith, my clients share a common goal of personal growth and healing. I am committed to guiding them on a journey towards self-discovery, helping them understand and love themselves more deeply. By fostering self-love, my clients aim not only to enhance their individual well-being but also to build healthier, more fulfilling connections with others. Together, we embark on a path of exploration and healing, integrating mental health insights and faith-based perspectives to create a holistic approach towards achieving their goals.

My treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT provides a compassionate framework that encourages individuals to explore and understand their emotions, fostering a deeper connection with themselves and their loved ones. By honing in on the emotional landscape of relationships, we work collaboratively to navigate challenges and cultivate a more secure and fulfilling bond.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I embrace the transformative power of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a foundation for healing and growth in the realms of love, relationships, trauma, and spirituality. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I guide individuals toward accepting their emotions and experiences, fostering a deep connection with themselves and others. ACT empowers individuals to commit to values-driven actions, allowing them to navigate the complexities of relationships with authenticity and resilience.

Christian Counseling

Drawing upon the rich teachings of Christianity, our therapeutic journey is infused with the principles of forgiveness, grace, and the redemptive power of love. Spirituality is woven into the fabric of our therapeutic exploration, allowing individuals to deepen their connection with their faith and discover profound meaning and purpose.

Humanistic

Embracing the inherent value and uniqueness of each individual, this therapeutic framework places a strong emphasis on the cultivation of self-awareness, personal responsibility, and the realization of one's potential. Together, we embark on a collaborative journey that honors the human experience, emphasizes personal growth, and facilitates a holistic approach to well-being.

Gottman method

Through the application of the Gottman Method, my practice aims to empower couples to develop the skills and insights necessary for building and sustaining a loving, resilient partnership that aligns with their spiritual values and enhances their overall well-being.
