Supriya Mathew
Hi, I’m Supriya Mathew, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I offer a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported as we work together toward meaningful change. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief, life transitions, stress, and challenges with self-esteem. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply unsure of what comes next, we can begin wherever you are. My approach is integrative and tailored to you. I draw from several therapeutic approaches to help you better understand patterns, build practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change based on your individual needs, strengths, values, and goals. As a South Asian therapist, I understand how culture, family expectations, immigration experiences, relationships, and balancing multiple identities can affect emotional well-being. I welcome open conversations about these experiences and strive to create a space where all parts of who you are can be explored with respect and understanding.
First session
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, trusting relationship. I’ll listen to what brings you to therapy, learn about the challenges you’re facing, and explore what you hope to gain from our work together. You can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can begin wherever you are.
Strengths
When we meet, you can expect a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself and feel truly heard. I’ll meet you where you are with understanding, honesty, and thoughtful feedback. Together, we’ll build on your strengths, explore what may be keeping you stuck, and find practical ways to help you move forward with greater confidence.
Ideal clients
You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. Perhaps you’re navigating relationship challenges, trauma, grief, a major life transition, stress, low self-esteem, or cultural and family expectations. You may also be balancing different identities or struggling with the unique challenges of military or veteran life. You’re looking for a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard and understood while gaining greater clarity about yourself and your experiences. You’re ready to explore what may be keeping you stuck, build practical coping skills, strengthen your relationships, and work toward feeling more confident, connected, and balanced in your life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you better understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors may be connected to the challenges you’re experiencing. Together, we can identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical coping strategies that fit your needs, strengths, and goals. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to you rather than one-size-fits-all.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you navigate difficult thoughts and emotions while staying connected to what matters most to you. Together, we’ll explore your values, build on your strengths, and identify practical steps that can help you move toward a more meaningful, balanced, and fulfilling life.
Psychodynamic
I use a psychodynamic approach to help you explore past experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be affecting how you feel or respond today. Together, we’ll build greater self-awareness and understanding of what may be keeping you stuck, so you can make more intentional choices, strengthen your relationships, and create lasting change.
