Esmeralda Leon
I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish), licensed therapist who works with children, adolescents, and families, with a focus on infant and early childhood mental health. I work closely with parents and caregivers to better understand young children’s emotional and behavioral needs and strengthen the parent-child relationship. My approach is trauma-informed, with an emphasis on understanding each person’s unique experiences, needs, and strengths. I have worked with children, teens, and families navigating anxiety, emotional and behavioral concerns, trauma, family and relationship challenges, and other life stressors. My experience includes working with children and adolescents involved with the child welfare system, supporting families experiencing significant stress, and providing therapy to survivors of intimate partner violence. My goal is to meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and create a space where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences. Together, we can work toward greater understanding, healing, and positive change at a pace that feels manageable for you.
First session
Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. You’ll have space to ask questions and get a feel for my approach. We’ll also explore whether working together feels like a good fit.
Strengths
One of my strengths as a therapist is my ability to meet clients where they are. I am comfortable giving clients space to process and express themselves in their own way, including simply sitting with them in moments when words may be difficult. I listen closely and try to understand what each client needs from me in the moment. When a client is ready, I am also willing to gently challenge them, offer a different perspective, or help them explore something in a new way. I strive to balance patience and compassion with thoughtful guidance, while respecting each client’s pace and individuality.
Ideal clients
I work well with people who want to better understand how their experiences and relationships have shaped them. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with anxiety, or wanting to break old patterns and build healthier relationships, therapy can be a space to better understand yourself and explore what you want for your life. My approach is supportive and nonjudgmental, while also making room for new perspectives and growth.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My approach to therapy is centered on meeting you where you are. I will provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself. I will support you at your own pace while offering guidance and new perspectives.
