I have two decades of experience treating clients with mental health and/or substance abuse problems. I also have experience treating clients who are having relationship problems or are going through a difficult situation and need help getting past it in a healthy way. My goal is for my clients to have a good quality of life; I want them to feel that life is not something to get through but something for them to enjoy.
In our first session, we'll work on helping the client feel comfortable in therapy and on gettin a better idea of how best to help them. I also like them to leave with something to help them start to work on their issue right away.
I have twenty five years of experience. I've helped a lot of clients and I feel that I've developed a good sense for what time of treatment works for what type of person. I also care very deeply for my clients and their well-being. I want to form a team with them, with their improvement as the main goal.
I feel comfortable working with most people, from teenagers forwards.
I have been using CBT for more than twenty years. For many clients, I've found it to be very helpful in helping them understand how faulty thinking affects their mods and actions.
I have been using motivational interviewing for more than fifteen years. I've found that most clients have the answers to their own questions and problems inside of them. They just need help finding the motivation to take action. Motivational interviewing is great for this.
Many people find talking to a therapist to work through their weekly life issues very helpful. However, some people want to find answers to specific problems in a short amount of sessions. I have used solution focussed treatment very effectively in these cases.
